mp3[s - Does only the 'in command' slot provide folders of mp3's?
I burned a few mp3 cd's and on the ones in the 6 disc changer, i cannot see folders, just a long list of songs. On the cd I put in the comand unit, I can hit the folder button and see all of the different albums and inside of each album is a list of the songs.
Is this normal? can others see the different folders when the cd's are placed in the changer?

Create one folder for each group you like and inside that folder put their songs in them. Drag the folder into your buring software. Then burn your CD. When you insert you cd into you changer or the single disk slot, wait till it loads and then push the folder button and you should see the folders you created.

You have to create the folder before you burn them onto your cd. For example:
Create one folder for each group you like and inside that folder put their songs in them. Drag the folder into your buring software. Then burn your CD. When you insert you cd into you changer or the single disk slot, wait till it loads and then push the folder button and you should see the folders you created.

MP3 Experience
I tested my single slot CD and my 6 pack unit for operation with a multi-folder cd with mp3 songs. Following are my results:
The single slot CD recognzed the disk. The folder button would show only four of the six folders on the CD. The names of the folders did not read as burned. Each of the four folders was displayed as a 3 digit number followed by a period. ie 002. Only four songs could be selected and played under the folders.
The six pack would accept the disk. The head unit would display the name of the CD. No folder structure could be obtained. Only 99 of the 200 mp3 songs could be played.

I am open for any explanations as to why the unit operates in this manner.

MP3 Operation in the 2007 E350
Well it appears that we have a consensus that the 6 pack deck will not show the folders and will only play / list 99 of the songs on the CD.
A limitation yes, though one I can live with (for now).
As to the reason why my head unit does not show the correct folder names for a multi-folder mp3 cd I still do not know. As mentioned in a previous post, the folder names displayed are shown as a three digit number followed by a period. ie 003. or 004. and only 4 songs may be selected / played under each of the four folders. I have burned the CD using Nero.
Has anyone had success seeing the folder names as burned and more than four songs in each folder? If so, what software are you using to burn the CD?

it can play mp3 cd's. if you burn the mp3's in folders, you will be able to see a 'folder' softkey that allows you to access each album. next step... burn a dvd of mp3's and see how those play.

07 E350 Dvd
I have burned a cd with MP3 songs and it plays in the main slot of the Command unit. It turned out that my original attempt was faulty do to having some JPG images mixed in with those MP3s.
I have attempted to burn a dvd with MP3 songs. It appears that the 07 Command unit in my E350 will not recognize the DVD with MP3s.
I am moving my music collection to my ipod. It is ashame that the installation of the MB IPOD kit is so expensive. I may attempt to install it myself.

Too bad MB couldn't offer a DVD instead of CD drive, at least for the single slot. Seems like they're just a bit behind the times considering we're already into HD-DVD and Blue-Ray.
Just to be sure, I tried a DVD with mp3's in the single slot and no go.

You need to get to the engineer menu by pushing some three button combination.
Here you go since I had subscribe to this thread

The single slot is a DVD player especially if you have the NAV. I can play MP3 DVD media and it will see folders no problem.

I've already tried a DVD movie and no go. Any other 2007's with the same issue?

I wish the single slot was a DVD. The manual states that it is only a CD player. I also tried the trick from your link, no luck. Nothing happened after pushing those three buttons in sequence, then keep all three buttons down together.
