SBC Warranty Extension to 10 years?

SBC Warranty Extension to 10 years?
I recently got a sticker in the mail from MBZ stating that the SBC system has 10 year unlimited miles warranty as of now. Anyone got the same letter?

Hey Kev, i think a member posted that about a week ago that they are extending the warranty for the SBC to 10 years 
good luck and hopefully you won't have to encounter that problem while driving! :gasp:

Oh, yeah, well, hopefully they don't fail on you driving. I'm just thinking of when you do an SDS test on the car and you get the "death code" for the SBC pump. No testing, no nothing, you get the code you replace the thing even if no signs of failure are present.

Im in Australia,
Did any of you guys get that SBC recall done? (back in 05' i think?)
Our 55 is in at the moment doing the recall that should have been done back then (service dep. didnt even contact us. my sales guy asked me like 5months down the track).
What is to be done in this recall? (they ordered like heaps of parts for it)
Anyone else in AUS had it done? OzE55? Rafal?

I drive a E55T, SLK55 and 65 Mustang Conv.
We got ours to and I have to tell you this is whay scares the HECK out of me about the E. They won't admit there is a problem and yet out of the blue we get this just incase there's a problem

personally, 10 years or not, there's a whole lot more tweezy electronic and air-suspensionesque stuff in this car that has me fearing for my life once the warranty runs out after 4 years.
I love this car for its mix of practicality (I have the wagon) and brute force driving pleasure, and bought not leased it in the hope of keeping it until it dies, in the tradition of so many 80's/early 90's MB's still on the road today. However, I'm aware those cars are way less chocked with high-tech gadgetry than the current e55; further, I don't see nearly as many 96-02 wagons around anymore, and they're not even that old!
How many of you guys are planning to keep your e55's, versus trading/selling it at or near warranty's end? Does it make sense to get out of such an expensive car when closer to the end of warranty when the value will be far reduced, or sooner when you might still salvage some sales value from it? Obviously, in either case the seller's being bent over because of depreciation, but I'm just curious to hear others' thoughts about their plans for keeping/offing their E55's.

edit: I'm sure repairing this car will still be cheaper than buying a new one, but it's the "baywatch factor" of doing so (i.e. the "hasselhoff" involved) that concerns me there too.

I am undecided but as it stands now its a keeper until something better comes along ...
I'll try and get an extended warranty ... not sure how it works here in the UK but think you need to fiinance your car with them for this to apply.
Chances are I'll swap into a W212 in 08/09 when the amg version comes out in that ... but think I may only do that if its substantially faster ... which I find difficult to believe if its going to be a N/A version of the 6.3 motor... although the styling and yes SBC may sway me.
I have had my car new since Jan06 and have had zero recalls... maybe they just not bothered about them here in the UK!
I think best way is to keep options open... passed on the E63 .. I'll wait for something else to come along ... mbe a Panamera Porsche ?

no recalls (at least, anything substantive) here either since i bought the thing on labor day (sept. 5) 2005. I'd like to think that MB got all the bugs out by spring '05 when they built mine, given that they've had since late 2002 to identify and fix them...

I think this is where MB screwed up. I have a 2004 E55 and they gave me no reason to upgrade to a E63. I'll just have to keep my E55 until MB comes out with something I just have to have.

I took my car to the car wash today and they parked my car next to an M5, and I can't imagine myself driving that car at all. However, the new M3 is totally different story, I get real excited just thinking about it.

From the spy pics, it will come with wider fender flares to accomodate wider tires. Hopefully it will come with the CF roof like the M6, but I doubt if it would come that way. Also the suspension is supposed to be adjustable. However, the first year run should be plauged with problems like the previous M3 and the new M5...... The other down side is that the N/A V8 engine is not going to be easily tuned like the 335i twin turbo engine, where a couple bolt ons will bring the car up on par with the new M3. So, if one's not looking to keep the factory warranty, the 335i might be a better starting point for modifcations. However, for some folks that just have to have the M badge and side vents, the new M3 will be the choice. I've test drove the 335i briefly and is impressed by its handling and delivery of power, almost no turbo lag and feels very nimble considering its size (which is larger than the E90).
