Battery Replacement In Key??

Hey guy I think all the keys are the same so I would post it in this forum. I get in my car and start it with the keyless go funtion and on my info screen its low bat in key or something stating my battery is running low in my key? Is this a battery we can buy and put in or is it special order etc. Thanks for an help.

Assuming your key is the same as mine.

It will take two CR2025 battery that you can get anywhere (almost anywhere)

1. Looking from the top there is a release latch that you slide over and the metal "key" will come out.
2. Pull the key out and looking into where the key use to be, use the key to push the light gray latch to remove the battery assembly. This is basically the top piece and you can see the grove or separation where it should separate from the main part of the keyless go. You may need to help this come out with your finger or fingertip.
3. Once the top peice comes off, you will see the battery.

Not an official instruction, but this is how I do it. Very simple.

I had the exact same thing last month. I stopped at a store and got the CR2025's. Put them in the key and presto, "Key not recognized." I put the key in the ignition (how old-fashioned) and the car started. Took the key out, and the key still wasn't recognized. Grumpy, I put the key back in the ignition, started the car and drove home (about a 40 minute drive). When I got home, I took the key out of the ignition and tried to start the car and now it worked fine! No problems since. Does the key need to re-initialize or something?

I replaced the batteries in both of my keys and they both worked just fine. So, your answer would be, not always.

Unhappy Damn!

Wish I would have checked this a few weeks ago. I just spent $22.00 for the dealer to replace the batteries in one of my keys!

Damn I love my dealer. They replace the batteries for free while your car is under warranty and you purchased it through them.
