Raced my first E55 today…
I was on PCH in HB. The E55 was in front of me at the light. So he had the hole shot. He punched it and then I followed. He did not spin the rears so he must have had the ESP on. I caught him right away and passed him before shifting into 2nd. I let off at about 90 and he was two-three car lengths behind. All of the tests on the 63 have been done with low mile cars. It seems as though mine has gotten faster as I have put miles on it. I’m at about 3,800 now. I’m not sure what year the E55 was. All I know is it was a 211. With all the banter on this site about how slow the 63 is…it was nice to race one (E55) and see him in my rear view mirror…Or maybe he wasn’t trying…

A stock M3 would keep up better than that. Probably closer to stock E36 318

You don't have the low end torque the 211 has, It will destroy you down low..
Your only shot is up top, but you have to beat him down low to get there, in your story it was 90mph, the 211's power wouldn't start to top off till around 135ish.....
Your story really doesn't work...Since you say he got the the jump

Since there was no tyre smoke I guess we was probably trying too hard and the ESP was intervening too much ... a kill is a kill. Nicely done.

Im not saying your story didnt happen. it is possible say if he had quite worn tyres and esp simply wouldnt let up.
I have no bias towards either car, (even tho i have a 55 id love a 63). I wouldnt care to admit if the 63 is faster, ive seen a lot of them get the jump off the line, but there is no way in hell you could pass him before shifting to second if he was indeed flat to the floor if traction was equal.
Take the factory figures 0-62, dont even account that many say the 55's are conservative, and you have at best 2 tenths of a second quicker to 62 in a E63. Thats pretty much neck and neck. Im not saying you didnt pull past him in first gear, but there is no way to prove he was flat to the floor. So wouldnt call this a kill.

Entirely possible that the E55 tripped the ESP and the car bogged. Once it bogs, it is playing catch-up against the E63. I don't have a problem believing the E63 could have won under these circumstances.
I'd like to see a low 12 second time slip from an E63. I am not being sarcastic.

A kill is a kill, we'll have to take the OP's word for it like we believed Chiromikey's kill of the F430. Don't try to come up with a bunch of excuses, just take it for what it's worth.
With that said, psk145, are you going to line up with gE63 at the strip?

Out Of Control!!
This story reminds me of the issue of the 63 not starting out in first gear unless the driver goes through some kind of procedure. Anyone have some info on this? I am a bit curious about the transmission in the E63.

we can make a friendly run if he wants. I dont understand why the OP is all bent out of shape. The last 5 words in his post were "…Or maybe he wasn’t trying…" We were all agreeing with you
.
But if it makes you feel better we can compare sometime. No one said your car wasnt fast. Its just the huge margin of your kill makes it hard to believe a 211 E55 was really trying, especially with the 55 having much more torque from a dig

even based on all the mag times.
to 100...
the E55 and E63 are practically even.. based on several mag times
to 150..
the 63 has .5 second advantage.. (C/D)
He had a bad IC pump or he was not trying. Not to take away from the E63.
I'm thinking on jumping to the E63 next year.

Even against an S55, with ESP kicking in and John Force behind the wheel of an E63, you're not going to pass the S55 before he shifts into 2nd and pass him.
If you want to count it as a kill count it as a kill, who's keeping score anyway? This type of street racing is no indication of who's faster than whom, since there are a variety of factors, besides, it's just a bit dangerous.
