So Cal / Nevada Track Day Feb 17 - 18

I'll look into it tonight, but I doubt I'll go. I really wanted to take mine. I've done so much to it for handling that I'm eager to start some track time and see how it feels. It is so hard to tune things without getting enough seat time to see what it does.
I'm just pissed and miss my car. I took the conservative route with getting second opinions, etc. instead of just replacing the pulley and hoping for the best. All signs look good for now, but you never can be too safe. I'd be even more pissed if I had rushed it and compromised something along the way. That is all that I keep telling myself.

Dam I wanna go...Any room for a 63. I love Vegasssssssssssss and could get a room no prob. I know this was planeed many moons ago but my schedule seems to just have cleared itself
#154
My $$ is on Vadim, if the 997 has enough power.
#155
Dam you sure you cant go? I think my car would do well , but who knows how I drive. I have never raced on a "track". Sucks that your car is sidelined, took MB 27 hours to wash my car and reprogram the transmission..LOL
#156
Yup, I'm out. I'd be interested to see how the 19 in rims get offset by the 030 package. I wish I were there. To me, track driving is much easier than the streets. As always, it takes a few round to get a track down, but I am big on memorizing the brake, acceleration, and turn in points asap. Flat tracks are harder, because ther is that mirage effect that tends to make you turn in too soon.

Be sure you have a place to stay first, rooms are hard to come by and expensive, I'm staying at Mandalay, if you stay there, we can have a few drinks on Fri and on Sat after a rough day at the track.
It would be nice to see a CLS 63 030 at the track!

State Patrol
The speed limit is 75 so pacing @ 90-95 will get you a ticket. 80-85 they usually let you keep going.

That is awesome. I love karting just wish I was better at it. I did well at the AMG challange last year in my group. The guys were suprised I finished 3rd in my qualifying heat but then I was bummed because in the final they lined us up alphabetically versus by qualifying time so I was in the rear

Speed Trap
I concur, I got nailed for 102 in a 70 on Blue Diamond (Rte 160) from Vegas to Spring Mountain. Keep your speed down. Luckily, I found an attorney there that went to court on my behalf after a continuance, and they got it reduced to a parking violation. I know, sounds unbelievable, but they did. If you do get a ticket, contact Rasmussen and Kang in Vegas, they hooked me up!! Spring Mountain is a great track, very technical and depending on the layout you get, upwards of 25 turns or so. Lots of fun. They have a great driving school there with Corvettes too.
Have fun out there!! Wish I had seen this earlier, I would have gone

The car is quick, sounds INSANE, drives well BUT the Traction system can not be defeated. It has a spacer under the traction off button to make it so you CANT push the button. While you CAN pull the button on, remove the spacer, and go from there its still a risky thing since the button could snap off. That might look funny
Anyhow with the traction system ON the car will brake the rear wheels the entire time you are on the track and your rear pads will be GONE in a few hours. Lets say that backing plates on rotors dont sound good when you go to return the car at the Hertz airport drop off!
Also the brakes are absolute junk. Talk about fade.
Go fo a 350z for its much better suited to track use. It actually just looks fine when you are done assuming you dont try any off-roading.
