E63 Amg Hp ??

I have searched for hours and it seems as though the topic was dropped. Has the low dyno numbers and poor performances at the tracks been fixed? If so, what was the problem? I want to put a deposit down on the CLK Black series and don't want to run into a low HP/ Performance issue. If the resolution has been discussed somewhere, can someone point me into the right direction. I can only find posts stating all the problems. Thanks...

E63 HP Numbers

I think it was a couple of anomaly engines that dynoed very low. It happened to 3 members on the board. No one really knows why those cars dynoed low. Some claimed that the intake was the reason for the low hp, and that AMG redesigned the intake mid-year, but AMG states that the intake remained EXACTLY the same since the production of the 63 engine.

I think it is sometimes like a gamble when buying a new AMG because the engines vary so much. On this board, I've seen 63 engines dyno as low as 380 whp and as much as 440 whp???

I don't think you should worry though because most of the engines fall in the average category. Only very few will produce extremely low and extremely high results.

Here are 3 different links to 3 different 63 engines (E63, CLS63, ML63), all producing very good power:

CLK63 Black Series is an AWSOME car, I say go for it...

Dyno runs are too relative to tell. We now have the same car that dyno'd at 380hp pull the 440hp. I haven't seen too many more track slips, but I wouldn't get too hung up on dyno numbers.

Is it possible that the low-hp readings are due to the mileage on the cars? I could swear that in prior MB's that my family has owned, the car felt much stronger with a bit of mileage on it, like 3,000. It wasn't marginally snappier, either. It was like a 6 cylinder motor was swapped out for an 8.

Because I did not drive them everyday, I really noticed the differences. Is it possible that the ECU is programmed to utilize a different fuel map until the car has completed some pre-programmed break-in cycle?

I have no basis to say that this is happening with the E63s, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Don't hate.

I saw one with 4000miles pull a 380 as well. There is no huge trick to it. Dyno runs are so dependent on conditions, etc. that the actual number means nothing. The only way to tell is to line them up and GO!!

You R: when you down to lay all this to rest?

You know...I think I have to also agree with this. When I first got my E63, it was one of the very early production vehicles, like 07/06. Although it did seem a little tight, I really didn't open it up until it got around 1400 miles on it, and now with over 3,000 miles it really seem lik a different car, at least off the line. Being from Ohio, where we had a wealth of places to take a car and have it dyoned, here in Tennessee I really can't find any that I would TRUST to do an adequate dyno. So by my trusty old butt dyno, it feels like it really did open up!!
