I can't believe I found him. It was a good run, but I couldn't hang. He had mods to give more HP, it was at the high end of speed, and we all know our aero dynamics can't compete w/ a vette's.
Anyway, I was amazed that I could find him on the net after our long drive.

cool - nice to see car guys respecting each other's rides and having fun! most of the times though it goes something like:

Most of the Vette guys aren't like that. I think you're describing a Honda CRX or some ricer board.
The guys on that Vette forum seem to be pretty hard core "car guys". I think most Vette drivers respect the German and other foreign cars, but just prefer american muscle. And for that money, getting a car that can walk a lot of Euro-monsters is hard to argue with.
that being said, I've never shopped Vettes because I am really into the whole package and can't get passed the interior. It's sad b/c other than that, Vettes are world class.

The sound, the bark, the acceleration & the ride quality (pretty good actually)
Minus: the interior
I drove a prev. model Boxster right after the Z06 - needless to say I almost fell asleep. *definitely not getting a Boxster*
The Z06 would be a huge step up from the CLK55 in terms of performance. I'm also thinking of a 'regular' C6 for its more updated looks & interior

Now throw some pulleys and headers on that thing and let's go back and kick some a$$.
K2 and some sticky tires, be a whoooollleee different outcome.

I replied to your post on the vette board under bmg. I think most vette guys can appreciate a fine executive sports car like the E55. You will find a few bad apples in every crowd to give the rest a bad name though.

Great story. My buddy has a C5 Z06. We've run on the street and the track. Those cars are built for quickness and speed. I've got a R/T Stage 5 and it's all I can do to pull him. He's done a little work and has more in store. When he's done it will be very close. Love Vettes!

hehe... I don't know if you have the right Corvette's numbers there. The stock C5 Z06 does 0-100 km in under 5 seconds.
It's not as fast as the E55 stock, but it doesn't take much to make it even or faster.
Those Corvettes are easily modded with relative little money to get up to 500 hp+.

Great story ! thanks for sharing, the C5 Z06 is just as fast as the E55k stock for stock they are capable of running 11.80's @ 118-119 in the right/capable hands but none the less, harder to drive than the E55k, so yes most likely the E55k will beat the average joe in the STOCK C5 Z06.

But yes, from the timeslips I've seen, a C5 Z06 is just as fast as a 55k car.

Perfectly put. Most of the time the E55 will win on the street because there just aren't that many good Vette drivers. My buddy would beat most stock E55's in his C5 Z06 because he can make it sing and dance like nobody's business. No his name is not Ranger.

Yup! Yup! that's why I yearn to be in an AMGk or Bi-Turbo over my C6, cause no matter how much I mod it, (Even though it's automatic too) the damned thing is hard as hell to hook-up! Mercedes sheer luxury has a small appeal as well
