Can anyone confirm if the oil form the K&N air filter ruin the air flow mass meter?

It is found that K&Ns in E55s frequently drain blinker fluid and damages the transmission's triple flywheel setup.

In all seriousness, you do not have a MAF.

You will be fine w the K&N's I had them on my 55.I actually have a brand new set sitting in the garage as well.Too bad they dont make them for the 63 yet

Mass Air Sensor measures volume of charge air in a natural aspirated engine.
Mass Air Pressure measures pressure of charge air in supercharged engines.
The E55 has MAS/MAF the E55K has MAP.

Ok, now I am totally confused. So does the K&N screw up the MAP??

IMHO, I want a good filter that keeps my supercharger clean, my intercooler clean and offer throw away convenience. K&Ns are far from my needs.
Do a search, here you will see many tests, draw your own conclusion.

I've run K&Ns since the early 80s and I was even a part of the early studies with the diesel engines.
The only lesson I learned is that cleaning and oiling them has to be done properly, but for the money I just treat them as disposable.
The green filters have issues of their own. The outer rim practically melts and collapses in our cars, which means you have NO filtering going on.

Actually, I believe it's called a MAF. Mass Air Flow meter. It measures the air flow in an engine. Its use is not just limited to normally aspirated engines.

A mass air flow sensor(MAF) measures the actual volume of air that enters the throttle body(TB).
It does so by heating a filament(smalll wire which requires a certain current) located in the vane of the sensor. It heats up to a certain temp(dependent on the car). The amount of air needed to cool the wire down(this new current is recorded) to another desired temp is then converted by the ecu(the total change in current) and the proper fuel is added.
A manifold air pressure(MAP) sensor measures the density of the air and is usually less accurate. It is always easier to modify the intake on a MAS sensor since it measure the actual volume of air and can adsjust the fuel accordingly.
