Good point, I have never tried to launch a big horsepower AMG so I don't know what works in regards to ESP. I know the programming is a lot more performance oriented. But I do know I have never been very good or consistent either.

Hey Ahmad,

They're allowing side by side this time, right? If so, are they allowing dial-ins with a staggered tree? If they're allowing for that, I'll run my E500 or maybe I'll bring the R500 and wax some people on the tree

But if they're only allowing heads up, I won't stand a chance with my little 500s and I'll just be a spectator.

2. If you are launching hard and getting a lot of spin try letting 5 or 10 lbs. of air out of your back tires (run 20 to 25 lbs). The wider footprint will hook you up better and doesn't cost too much down the track where a little more traction ads up to additional friction.
I dissagree and I say be gradual but steady with the throttle when going WOT.Taking that much air out of the tires and running at 20 to 25lbs will KILL the trap speeds on these cars with street tires. Ask me how I know!

Interesting. I've never taken anything down the strip with the kind of power you guys are making so take my tips with that in mind. I am only making 300bhp at best so my best 60' time of 2.0 was with about 30' of spin with WOT right from the start. MIR can be very sticky so a few practice runs will tell how much throttle it will handle. When I ran my bike, I almost left my boots at the starting line there was so much traction compound. But I did run my best E/T and trap speed with 26 lbs instead of my usual 34 lbs on my 245/40 Michelin Pilot Primacy tires so I am a firm beliver that a little less air can work.

Losing some air will give you good traction but the rolling resistance the lowered air pressure creates gives me lower mph in the 1/4 mile and up.

Yeah, a trade off. But if a low E/T is what you are gunning for, that trick can work sometimes.

Ok, I tried a few lighter techniques and think you guys are right. If I launch with ESP off (it's definitely not an AMG), a real light powerbrake (almost none, just holding the brake on with a tiny bit of throttle) and then go WOT just off the line as it gets rolling it will do a 2.0 60' and a low 5.4 0-60 pretty consistently. That nets me a little wheel spin, maybe 10', and then a lot of giddy-up. So with some more traction, like at the track, I would hope to get a 1.8 or a 1.9 (I'm almost at a 1.9 now on the G-TECH) and a 0-60 closer to 5.2 or 5.3. If so then it will be at or hopefully under 13.5 in the 1/4 which would be right where I want to be with my little NA 3.5L!

I agree 100% with dropping the air in the rear

I would drop my rear 275/40/17 down to 18 lbs.

This dropped my 60' times down to 1.8's Instead of 2.0's

The VERY slight drag, friction, do to the wider foot print is minimal at best.
My MPH, never suffered by more than 1MPH, in my stang
It ran 12.6's at 116mph. Not to bad for a raod racer.
BTW I never ran Drag radials due to my weak T5 tranny.

As far as power shifting, YOUR NUTS!
The damage it will do compare to one tenth of a second dropped time is NOT WORTH IT Unless you like working on trannies, I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMEND THIS PROCEDURE TO ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!

See yeah, and have FUN

PS: Don't forget to pump up the fronts to about 50PSI for less drag

Great tip about the front, reduce the rolling resistance, nice one! As for no-lift shifting, I don't like to do it (when I was racing a 5-speed, Stang too, 94 GT 5.0L!) but I was always getting beat by drivers who were. I practiced a lot and finally got to where I could drop .2 by doing it right just shy of the redline. And I put a special centrifugally weighted clutch plate on my bike to make it much easier to powershift. I agree though that it can be harsh on the tranny, especially when you first start trying, but I have seen guys get very good at it and do it smoothly. I was never one of them though. So, I can't disagree there either too much.

It is going to be a blast bro, there will be some very fast cars representing. Avery said he wanted to come when I sent him a mesage a few weeks ago so I hope he does indeed run, MIR is literally one of the fastest tracks in the USA and it will be in his best interest since he will definitely put down some serious numbers. Maybe you will let me run your M6 down the track, Ill let you run the CL

Your worst nightmare...
And now for the million dollar question.......Drum rolls please....Is ANYONE BRINGING THEIR WIFE OR GIRLFRIEND?, the reason I ask is because my wife wants to tag along and see me at the strip, she says I put so much time and effort into this. Since she can't compete with the beast she might as well join her, lol! Don't want to make her feel awkward if she goes, she might be the only one there in terms of females. Your input is greatly appreciated and please don't take this the wrong way. Thanks!
