Thumbs up Track Results Tonight at New Eng. Drag

Hey All,

I wanted to share my results with you all after my second night of racing at New England Dragway in Epping NH with my recent modifications.

Reaction Time .497
60' Time 1.780
1/8 Time 7.761
MPH 90.23
1000 Time 10.122
1/4 Time 12.086
MPH 114.91

I had a second run at 12.106 with a trap speed of 115.53.

I came very close to breaking 12 seconds as you can see. I think with a cooler night, it was 65 degrees for this slip, I will get there. I had so many people check my car out and ask a ton of questions. Met someone who just bought an 06 E55 and wanted to know how to modify the car and what I did. He had his fathers Grand National with him that ran an 11.65. There were a ton of Mustangs and Corvettes out tonight. There were only 3 cars that ran faster ET than mine. A C6 Z06 at 11.5 (Nitrous shot), a Grand National 1987 11.65, heavily modifed Nova 11.8 or something.

Wanted to get your thoughts on the health of my BEAST. I have a VRUS 80mm TB and EVO Sport Headers for mods.

I want to thank Jackpro1 and DJE55 for their extremely helpful advice. As you know, these 2 guys have some of the quickest 1/4 track times in the country for our cars. I will be going out to the track for the next 6 weeks until the track closes or I post a time under 12 seconds. EMAX, I hope you can make it out there with me. It would be cool for 2 Black E55's out there on the same night.

BTW, I have not dynoed my car since the modification. Anyway to compute or estimate my RWHP based on my times and trap times. I will eventually dyno the car again.

Peace everyone,

Roland

Roland...Congrats! Did you add them to dragtimes.com yet? Were you running on stock tires or drag radials?

Again...great run!

Those are great times.
Add a pulley and you'll be in the 11's.
Great 60' ... DR's?

nice bro your 60' time is just a hair slower than mine and i have LSD and drags. boy track prep sucks in sacramento. once you add that pully you will easly get to the 11s.

i need the weight of your car with you in it to estimte RWHP

great 60 ft and ET . I think your car is running very strong through the 1/8th . I would expect a slightly higher trap speed 115-117, I will check DA now

edit: oh I see most your runs were higher traps, which could be wheel spin since the ET is also higher.

60ft times should be worse on you higher traps if wheels were a spinnin..

Man you had a DA of 53 feet , very very close to perfect conditions.

less than a 1/100th adjustment(correction)

Congrats on the times but I think you may be down on power a bit. You are running dead on average mph for stock E55's. I would have thought with the TB and Headers that you would have picked up mph? Have you ever had the s/c shut off on you before? With just a little better launch you can get this thing in the 11's. Keep trying and keep us posted.

Strong... I have a new E63, live about half an hour from N.E.D., and lets just say that I am deeply concerned about our first meeting. I'm hoping for 12.6 or better.

12.6 is a good benchmark. So far only one 63 has run 12.4. seems you folks have some great conditions. I think with practice NED may produce some very fast times.

rocket man do you have the same mods? What should Roland's car be doing in the 1/4. His launch looks great? Guess he needs the pulley to go down to mid to high 11 seconds?

11.7@118?

This is what my original thought was. The trap speed is a tad low for the mods listed.

But I am used to looking at the top stock times as modded cars can be more difficult to discern

DJ: Never had the SC shut off. My IAT's were checked before and after my mods. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.......

ZAX63: I am going to the track next Wednesday. Can you make it out??

Agree. Great run but the 115 trap speed is what I'm running with a STOCK 63, with those mods you should theoretically hit close to 117-118mph. The success with this run is with the 60'

Do you still have the factory crank pulley ?
I would recommend you dyno and data-log your IAT, Boost and timing.

The problem seems to be after the 1/8 mile you should be picking up more mph out the back. A healthy modded e55 should pick up 27-28 out the back door.

You are making around 550 HP+ at the cranks with you mods...and you boost is lower by 0.1-0.2 cause of headers...

1st time I dynoed my car with just headers, all cats on and e.race ehauasts...it made around 535HP at the crank, so with TB you around this range. since TB make generally around 30 HP...

Nice runs...how do you luanch...

You also have Wrap kit right ??? Get some pullies and ECU tune done ASAP...

RFLOW:

Thanks for your comments. Based on a few observations, it appears my MPH trap speed is light...

I am still stock pully. I have had no ECU changes, before or after modifications. If I am down on my MPH trap speed, with the mods I have, what should have been my ET last night. If you guys think I am down 2-3MPH, that would translate into what, an 11.7-11.9 ET?? Just trying to figure out where I should be with my mods with an 1.78-1.83 60'.

Looking at Dragtimes.com, I don't see too much of a variance with similar trap speeds, similar 60', and ET's (See Rudyrono, dragtimes.com.)

What can I have my MB mechanic do, precisely to evaluate the situation.

Thanks for everyones input.........

Roland

A cooler night! Geeze..we won't see 65 degrees until mid-December!! A 53' DA, I'd have to run in Death Valley for that.

Don't worry...it's just sour grapes on my part. Nice runs. You'll be in the 11's soon. Congrats!

your times over there dont count you have the best track prep in the world. i think he is right on target at least according to what i have seen. remember he only has TB and headers thoes two are gonna shine once he adds a pully and ECU to top it off.

That is about the only thing we have going for us in New England, except for the Boston Red Sox and Patriots........Do you know what winters are like here in Maine!

I keep looking at dragtimes.com and statistics are all over the map. Christ, there are stock cars doing better than stage I and II E55's. Anyways, I am going to double check with David, my mechanic, on the OBDII scan he did of my IAT's, timing and boost pre and post mods. I know he checked IAT's and they were 120 or so after WOT. Not sure about boost or timing. I am not holding out hope for much improved 60' times so perhaps a 55-60 degree evening will make a difference......

Maybe we have over projected expectations with VRUS 80 MM TB and EVO Headers. I know most folks are doing pully/ECU first than TB and Headers. Do you think I should have my ECU remapped/reprogrammed??????

Thanks Rocket.....

no i dont think ECU would of helped any but i do think the ECU and pully will get you down to the 11.5-11.7 area. of coarse if you get a evotech from adam that is. your 60' time is great once you add LSD and drags its only gonna get better by a bit. i doubt you had any wheel spin. the prep is just to good.

Hi Higginsbeach

Congratulations on your run - I think your beast is real strong and running well - I am not sure what your mods are giving you but your times compare almost identically with my stock E55 run at Moroso on a cool night in January 2 years ago.

I am 53rd fastest E55 on dragtimes (6th fastest stock E55, and I was bone stock down to the original tires and filters......as I have said before some of those other "stock" times are pretty darn unbeliavable!!)

Here's a comparison of my run vs your run.

.....................E/T.......Trap......1/8thE/T....1/8thmph..60ft
Siswati............12.169...114.14...7.822........ 89.45.......1.784
Higginsbeach....12.086...114.91...7.761........90. 23.......1.780

Albert's comment on picking up 27-28mph certainly didnt apply to my car for sure - I only saw a differential of 24.69mph.

Anyhoo - you should pat yourself on your back - IMO its real strong...

regards
Siswati

After looking at some of my passes and some on dragtimes, the average is more like 26 - 27 out the back for a strong modded e55. I would dyno your car and compare the sae number and the uncorrected number to account for your weather conditions.

Hey bud,

Please shoot me a PM next time you head to Epping if you want some active company. My car is just about ready for it's virgin 1/4 run. I would love to head there with someone who has been running their MB there. Great track huh? I've watched many times.
