RENNtech intercooler kit upgrade installed...

My car had lost it punch in the lower gears towards the higher RPM's and after a burst from 0-110 MPH would have the supercharger shut down for 5 minutes or so until things cooled down. Typical symptoms of intercooler pump failure. Instead of taking it to the dealer for the same bum pump replacement I took the car to RENNtech and had them install their upgrade kit which includes a new, much larger pump, and an additional intercooler.

The problem was the pump, we put the old pump on a test bench and tried to power it up and nothing happened. On the test drive the low end grunt is back, and the car pulls hard on the top end. It's nice to be able to repeatedly hammer on the car without losing power, even in 95 degree weather! I attached some pics....

Welcome to the low IAT familyyyyyy!!!! Beautiful thing isn't it.

Just wondering if they rigged it to run all the time, or just per ECU. (I noticed a HUGE difference when I ran mine off acc power)

Trip finally seeing the inside of Renntech. After all you hear about them, you think it's gonna look like the SLR factory inside....

Would love a nice set of those "white boxers" above his head though.

RennTech Cooling Upgrade For E55

Does this replace their SLR style inter-cooler upgrade? Or do they offer two different cooling upgrades?

2005 E55 drowned/ 2011 CTS-v coupe gone/ 2012 E63 PP,LSD finally here
this is just an additional heat exchanger up front and upgraded pump, the SLR intercooler upgrade is just that, the intercooler at the S/C is upgraded, side by side intercoolers, this upgrade is seperate from the SLR intercooler upgrade

SAME

Fit of the added intercooler. The RennTech one is not as big, so it doesn't protrude into the mesh at all.

thanks

Hope that helps

yea, I meant additional heat exchanger..... the renntech pump is not the same as the johnson pump....

I haven't seen the evo kit, so I'm not sure of the differences....

What's more efficient, a single-pass heat exchanger like Renntech or double-pass like the Evo unit? Assuming both are fabricated using the same tube design.

They programmed my ECU to turn on the pump earlier than normal, but it's not on all the time....

There was an SLR in the next bay over and an S65 on the dyno.... You should see their other areas, they have quite a setup in the other rooms where they do their machine work and production....

Why RT over EVO? I would guess because he got RennTech to install it. I wouldn't buy ANY RennTech on the west coast until you find someone that you really trust to do the install. I'm not sure exactly what criteria, if any, RennTech puts on its distributors with respect to using qualified technicians.

Sorry, but they are real. They are made by Goodrich for use on race cars.

RT heat exchanger is half the thickness and only a single pass vs double on evosport's.

I sell both evosport and renntech.

Whatever rings your bell.

they are real stainless steel braided lines aren't they? aren't those AN fittings on the ends, another point double pass heat exchanger is like twice as good, double pass think about that, in my opinion the Renntech one is not as good as the EVO probably is, you can get single pass heat exchangers from places like AFCO racing for $200-$300, I prefab my own kit on my old SRT10, it probably cost me $600-$700 and it keep my IAT really down over the stock Paxton heat exchanger, one could get a johnson pump and make their own kit for under $1000, here are pics of my old setup

lol, heat exchanger cores aren't that expensive...it's the time to fab and weld the end tanks, brackets, and connections, and then get it all to fit your application that costs money.

since we're all posting pics of our custom heat exchangers...here are both of mine!

looks like the evo flows down half the cores and comes back the in other half, is that what you mean by double pass?
