Looking at the online data sheet and owner's manual for that device on the Actron web site, it is a pure DTC code reader. It does not have the capacity to read sensor data like temps, etc. I don't know what other units NAPA carries. I just bought an Autoenginuity scanner with the Pocket PC software and a bluetooth module, and it seems to work like a champ. FWIW. http://www.autoenginuity.com/

Folks, you need to do some research on your own, to learn more about the products available. Check out the Autoenginuity site, http://www.autoenginuity.com/. Also check out ScanTool at: http://www.scantool.net/ and AutoTap at: http://www.autotap.com/product_famil...&TrailType=Top

You should read the product info, and download the user's manuals for each and learn how they work. Then you can pick the tool that works best for you. You have to invest the time and effort to learn about them carefully, otherwise you will get nothing from this exercise.

I have a portable scantool that reads IAT. Let me grab it, and I'll get the info for you.

Rocket,
I'm a helper. I think I understand what you need, and the autoenginuity tool can give it to you easily. Just to give you an idea, I bought their ScanTool for the Pocket PC, and the Bluetooth module. I installed the software on my CELL PHONE, a Bluetooth-capable AT&T 8525 Pocket PC, and, after simple configuration, can easily read all the sensor data in real time on my cell phone while I'm driving the car. The AutoEnginuity tool reads IAT, according to threads on this board (search IAT and Autoenginuity, you'll get 2 threads that document this). You don't want overly fancy stuff, I understand, but this thing is so good and powerful, it's simple to use.

It is my understanding that you need to pulg in a OB2 sockit under the steering wheel near the pop hood leaver..

Rocket ... this is a cheap and effective way to see the info you need. Just stick on your windshield.

No need to carry a computer or have to have a phone that is a pocketPC or Palm.

Here you go: http://www.scangauge.com/features/

Looks like a neat and simple solution. Basically has a microcomputer in a box, instead of using a Windows based PC or Pocket PC. Cool alternative, and maybe just what Rocket wants.

There is a tiny Bluetooth module that attaches to the end of the OBDII connector down under the dash. That broadcasts to your Bluetooth-enabled Pocket PC or laptop. Very compact and works well for me.

Be aware there is a known problem with the scangaugeII not connecting on MB 55's. Mine was originally fine, after I used the Autoengenuity and had limiter removed it would no longer connect.

Been in touch with the guys there - they know about the problem but do not know when a solution will be available. Maybe as more of us put pressure they will get it sorted.

BTW - when its working its a really great unit ...

I bought Autotap and so far regret it. It takes "snapshots" of IAT's bout every 1 sec. When you are doing 3rd gear pulls, that's less than 10 snaps of IAT's. Really blows. Been hearing about all these things you can do to speed up the snapshots, but haven't been able to yet.

Wish I went autoengin. or nology.

although the autoenginuity has better software and will have much more support in the near future, the autotap is a good unit. the problem is not with your datalogger having a slow read rate, it's with the slow rate that the car offers info to the datalooger. so you will have the same problem with any of the better units. some of the cheap units will be even worse.
