Angry Warning K&N Filter

I recently purchased a 2005 MB E55 AMG. Your website specifies a 33-2859 filter but, that has been recently discontinued. Instead you say the correct filter for an E55 with a 5.5L supercharged engine vs. the E/S500 with a 5.0L normally aspirated engine is now a 33-2181. YOU ARE WRONG! The 33-2181 is too tall and the filter housing will not seal correctly. Compare the dimensions of the two filters and you'll see there is a difference. Next time you think one generic filter size fits all do your homework! After many years of buying K&N filters for my BMW's, Porsche's, Shelbys and other high performance cars I'm switching to green filters and posting a copy of this email on all the websites I can.

Most here don't use or endorse K@N for our cars.

Thanks for the info. However my experience with Greens was even worse. The filter fit perfect yet must not have had a strong enough border as the motor sucked it out of place and allowed unfiltered air into my engine.

Just checked Summit Racing and they specify that the 33-2283 is the filter to use for the E55 5.5.

While I really love this site, I think we all would agree that you can't believe all things people say all the time.

Sorry you had trouble.

I used Green for about a year and a half without changing or re-oiling them, works perfect. Only thing was that the rubber perimeter actually melted and kind of glued itself to my airbox.

PS: I don't and have NEVER had any connection with K/N, other than a VERY satisfied customer

Sorry, I thought good knoweldge based advice was okay for all. An engine is an engine, regaurdless of clyinders, blowers, manufacturer etc. Its a simple air pump, and the easier you let it breath, the more power you will make.

Have fun

See yeah

Depending on the year of the w211 e55 amg there are diffrent part numbers listed for the k&n air filters.

for 05 and 06 33-2181 is the correct part number.

I've used K&N for over ~150,000miles on M3, 540i6, M5, 350Z, E55 and it will continue to be one of my first mods on future cars.
