Bluetooth Phone Compatibility Issue
On the Razor it worked automatically and flawlessly but it won't do it on the new LG Venus. Does anybody know if there is some setting I'm missing or if it's just some small compatibility issue or what. Everything else works great and I really don't want to return the phone because I love it. Any help that could be provided would be forever appreciated. Thanks!

I demoed a Venus in my car yesterday and could place and receive calls without a problem via my V60 bluetooth puck. But since the phone was a brand new demo, I never even thought about adding a contact to it and seeing if it downloaded. I assumed that since calls were working the phonebook would work too.
I ended up going with the Voyager instead of the Venus. I pick it up tomorrow and I'll see if I can get my phonebook to download.
Stay tuned.
I just happen to have a new Venus sitting on my counter top. Don't ask, long story. Anyway, I paired it up with my car, no problem. Sure enough, it didn't download my phonebook. But I figured out how to make it work. Do this:
1. After successfully pairing your phone go back to the bluetooth menu and highlight the Mercedes connection
2. Choose "drop". This will drop the connection but keep it in history.
3. Highlight the MB connection again and choose "options"
4. Choose "Send Name Card" It will then bring up all of your contacts.
5. Choose "Mark All", then "Done"
6. Go back to the bluetooth menu and highlight the MB connection again.
7. Choose Connect.
Give it a minute or two and your phonebook will download.
Now, please paypal me $20.00 for my trouble.

Enjoy, I can't wait to get my Voyager tomorrow.

This trick gets the phone to download the contact list but if you make changes to that list the phone does not automatically update COMAND like it should. Instead it will display the last contact list you forced it to download. The only way I could get it to update the list was by going through your routine again. I also tried pressing the button on the Bluetooth puck once as the directions on that device says to do (to force an update) but that wiped out the contact list from COMAND altogether. Granted, I don't change my contacts on a daily basis so this is probably an entirely livable situation but I was wondering if you knew how to solve this updating issue?

I think you're right about having to do that great trick every time you update your phone's contact list. That's not a big thing. Actually on my wife's RAZR V3c, all you have to do is press once the blue button on the bluetooth puck and it would update the contact list automatically. That is very cool. Unfortunately, that doesn't work on the new LG. Depending on your model RAZOR, your success may vary.
On a side issue, do you know how to make or receive a call on your handset without using the hands-free (for privacy)? Or, for that matter, can you switch from hands-free to the handset mid conversation? I read that you could press and hold the telephone button on COMAND to get it to turn off the connection. But when I try to do that with the LG, it tries to disconnect but ends up still connected. The only way I was able to kill the hands-free was to disconnect the puck or unpair the phone. Obviously neither of these ways is very quick or elegant.
Enjoy your Voyager, it looks fabulous! I almost bought that but didn't want to pay for Verizon's expensive services per month in order to use all the phone's many gadgets. Did you get an unlimited package?
I think if the phone has bluetooth it should work in any car, any make etc. This gimmick of limiting it to a few phones frustrates me.
I was told the problem lies with new phones software, well why dont they all just use the same platform to make the consumers life easier.
So far, so good.
