If you are waiting on a red light to tell you when to shift, isn't it sort of like the car is placating you. "Yes, I know you want to be involved so I will tell you when to hit the button".
I think it will take a LOT of practice to get the shifting correct in M.
Mean while, "S" is giving 3.9 sec 0-60.

Have you compared 1/4 mile runs in hot and cold weather using the Performance Box? Seems like this would be a fun gadget but its $500. I tend to buy stuff like this, use it a few times, and then it gathers dust.

I've done 1/4 mile testing on the street in hot weather only so far (90 to 105 degrees), which resulted in an average of 12.8 to 13.0 seconds with an average 0-60 of 4.5 seconds. I haven't had a chance to run in cold weather yet, but I will as soon as I get a chance

Stunning!
But you should definitely follow Juicees' CLS63 video regarding training your transmission to shift at redline. On the second run, your car shifted well before peak power point in 1st and in 2nd, it did not rev to the redline either. You still need to unlock the 63's potential, but 3.9 0-60 is![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)

Guys, I don't want this thread to turn into "the E63 does 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds" because it does not. The E63 can do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds under certain conditions, but that's not the average. Just 10 degrees hotter will put you back into the 4.1 to 4.2 seconds range, and then 20 degrees hotter on top of that will put you into the 4.4 to 4.5 range, and so on.
Like I said in an earlier post, during last summer, I wasn't able to get anything faster than 4.4 (102 degree weather) and averaged 4.6 seconds using same car, same street, same equipment. When temps dropped to 70, I was able to do 4.3, then when it dropped to 60s, I was able to do 4.1 to 4.2, then when it dropped to below 49 is when we got the 3.9 seconds 4 times in a row
The car is dramatically affected by the hot weather.
That being said, anytime the temp drops below 50, you should go out and race any car you want from 0-60 mph

Okay, last night the temperature dropped to about 50 degrees, so I decided to take the car for some 0-60 mph runs. I ran 5 times and just couldn't get any faster than 4.08 seconds........ and although those numbers were good, I felt the car could do better.
So Amir (M5_Forever) stepped in and said "let me take a shot at it". He ran 5 times: on the first run he lost traction all the way from 0 to 50 mph and ended up with 4.3 seconds. Then he ran 4 more times, and amazingly all 4 runs (in a row) were 3.9x seconds; the fastest run being 3.90 seconds...
I'm surprised how consistent the car is in the cold weather. It's almost like adding NOS to our cars ![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
This was on 91 octane gas, and I feel that 93 or 94 octane would produce even better results
Here is the video, enjoy........

A little about the equipment used:
I used RaceLogic's latest GPS performance measurement device called the Performance Box. RaceLogic actually makes the actual measurement devices that is used by car manufacturers and magazines (cost 10 to 20 thousand dollars
). This Performance Box is a consumer version, but considered the most accurate consumer-level performance measurement device on the market. It connects to 10 satellites and each take 10 readings per second. So unlike accelerometers, it does not need calibration, and is not affected by car's vibrations, electronics, road conditions, etc......

Unfortunately not. My schedule is absolutely killing me at the moment. Been spending too much time with my new toy and now got to get my head down to work. Just got tinted and when I get the side markers painted black at Platinum this week I'll make sure to give you links to the pics.
Have fun and be fast

It actually worked a couple of times on the drag strip with the 63's as well, just not consistently. But I do agree with Juicee on this one, with the 63, your best bet is to have ESP off and modulate throttle.
