----> E63 P30 AMG 0-60 mph Runs <----
Okay, last night the temperature dropped to about 50 degrees, so I decided to take the car for some 0-60 mph runs. I ran 5 times and just couldn't get any faster than 4.08 seconds........ and although those numbers were good, I felt the car could do better.
So Amir (M5_Forever) stepped in and said "let me take a shot at it". He ran 5 times: on the first run he lost traction all the way from 0 to 50 mph and ended up with 4.3 seconds. Then he ran 4 more times, and amazingly all 4 runs (in a row) were 3.9x seconds; the fastest run being 3.90 seconds...
I'm surprised how consistent the car is in the cold weather. It's almost like adding NOS to our cars
This was on 91 octane gas, and I feel that 93 or 94 octane would produce even better results
Here is the video, enjoy........

A little about the equipment used:
I used RaceLogic's latest GPS performance measurement device called the Performance Box. RaceLogic actually makes the actual measurement devices that is used by car manufacturers and magazines (cost 10 to 20 thousand dollars
). This Performance Box is a consumer version, but considered the most accurate consumer-level performance measurement device on the market. It connects to 10 satellites and each take 10 readings per second. So unlike accelerometers, it does not need calibration, and is not affected by car's vibrations, electronics, road conditions, etc......

WOW.
So in warmer temps have you ever hit 3.9?
I think car has 3.8 in it as on all the runs on vid you hear slight traction loss and flickering esp lights. Car sounds great and looks like you should be in good shape for some low 12 second passes. Nice vid ,
Stunning!
But you should definitely follow Juicees' CLS63 video regarding training your transmission to shift at redline. On the second run, your car shifted well before peak power point in 1st and in 2nd, it did not rev to the redline either. You still need to unlock the 63's potential, but 3.9 0-60 is

I don't think any stock 55K car will run consistent sub 4.0 seconds like that, but short shifting well before peak power is wak. 6K rpms in 1st and ~6900 in 2nd are too soon. I don't know if red-line shifts would take off any time in your 0 - 60 runs, but it's justn't seem right to short shift.
Obviously it doesn't matter b/c theres enough torque & 2nd gear is very short.

+1 the times are damn impressive.

No....... in the summer time (when temperatures were 80 to 90 F, neither Amir nor I were able to break 4.2 seconds) using the same car, same driver, same street. So cold weather is just too amazing.........

Normally, I can't get 1st to shift at redline unless I do 20 minutes of manual training. But 2nd, 3rd, and all higher gears do shift at exactly 7000 to 7100 rpm even though was not too clear in the video

Performance Box
- Performance Box = $500 (and $560 with optional antenna)
- Drift Box (actually measures drift angles and distances)
= $750- Top of the line model (forgot the name) = $1,500
The one I have is Performance Box. It measures 0-60, 0-100, any speed to any speed (ex: 30 to 140 mph), any breaking distance, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, etc...... You can record the results on an SD card and move it to your computer.
You may be able to find the Performance Box on e-bay for cheaper. I bought mine a year ago for cheaper

One thing I think is important to note. I think the LSD on the P30 is probably good for 0.2sec.
Another trick on getting the car to shift from 1st at higher RPM.
Before you start your run in S mode, use the paddles to show "1" rather than "D" in the display.
It will be interesting to see if my car does as well on 12/8 in Sacramento.

Unlike accelerometers, this device is not affected by car's vibrations, calibrations, road conditions (ex: vibrations), incline or decline of the roads. It connects to 10 satellites and each satellite records your position and takes 10 readings per second.

I just think the lsd might give you a few thousands in the sixty foot times. But not much more than that.

. I think the LSD matters more on the 55. It benefits high torque cars really well. I know on my stage 2 C32, I gained 0.2 seconds on my 0-60 going from standard open differential to Quaife LSD
