E63 biturbo
In the 0-400m, the SL did a 11.8 against the Porsche but only ran a 12.1 against the GTR (which also did 12.1). Then on the track if you remember there was one part where the GTR could not overtake the 997 turbo on the straight. I think these 3 cars are very close in performance, and most outcomes on the road would be down to drivers ability.
There is video documentation of the GTR beating the Gallardo SL 0-400m. In a five lap battle at Tsukuba, the SL inched out a win. However, the SL and GTR lead the pack by a few seconds.
Sleepersrock, I don't guess I really have to worry about you getting anywhere near 180 in that....:

Guess stock turbos making 24psi on the stock wastegates need a new wastegate......
Just because you've had 3 Supras doesn't mean you know anything about turbocharging and the dynamics of it....

Boost pressure is very relative to turbo size, but I see where you're coming from. I'm sure the stock wastegate(s) are nice ones, but if you're swapping out turbos, generaly you should be swapping out wastegates as well. We'll see what HKS' kit for the VR38 entails, I happen to know they've been working on this car for a few months now. Their twin kit is going to be released along with the car.

Agree 1000%
473 is still < than 500 by my count, regardless of whether it's underrated.
AWD < RWD on the highway
And 6 has always been < 7.
Given simple bolt-ons the GTR should be in the 570-580 range or even higher, and it will probably decimate everything short of a ZR-1.

I was offered 1000.00 cash to give up my car. I did it. I might be cheap, but I can probably get another one once the hype wears off. I have found out there are a bunch of people financing this car... 1500 to 2000 a month .
Truth is I got cold feet, and there are plenty of people who want one at MSRP. I have never been the one to buy the first of something.
The "nail in the coffin" was the report of a Vspec being released in December in Japan. If it comes here, that's the one I'm getting. If not I will buy a 2010, with all the bugs worked out.
I hope I don't kick myself come June.
Vspec?!?!? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCcvLmHn9UQ

It was my business partner. So there would have been a seniority issue. I told him how I was wavering, and he told me he would give me a grand. Done.
I still get to see/drive the car. I have a feeling the Vspec is what I am looking for.
The LF-A is on the horizon as well, and I am a Lexus guy already.
Lemme see what I can dig up, I might be able to point you in a good direction.

That was a good choice to wait. it will give you a chance to see how the value holds up, give tuners time to develope more sound products, you'll find out if there are any bugs with the car, and something else may come out that is even better.
the GTR is an incredible car, but I don't agree with the price. it is a nissan and will not be as valuable as an R34, R33, or R32 which are cars that are not made anymore and are very hard to get. yeah I know that it perfoms a little better than the porsche, but at the end of the day it is not a porsche.
I will look for one used in a few years after the hype is gone. it will be an awesome track car.

My GTR arrived at the port last week and I took her out for a quick spin on trade plates. From the short experience I had, I would say that the GTR feels as fast as a 997 turbo but has a smoother power delivery. Gearchanges are amazingly fast. However, I doubt it will smoke my CLS55, a Superleggera or a Z06. Outcome of races will be pretty much driver dependent, with the GTR having an edge because of its gearchanges.

2005 E55 AMG, 2005 E46 M3 ZCP
honestly, im not a fan of the GTR or the M6 in looks.
if i wanted to go fast id buy an old foxbody mustang for 3 grand, put rear end, 4.10s, intake, exhaust and cams. thats another 3 grand and id have an 11 second drag car for about 6 grand total.
the GTR looks like a ricemobile. ok its fast, but its still a ricers dream. there are civics that run 9second 1/4 miles, but at the end of the day id rather have a 12 second benz than a 9 second civic.
IMO the M6 looks too bulky. BMW really took a shat after the E46M3. all their newer designs have gone downhill.
E46 m3 and E39M5 IMO were their last two decent designs.

I'm not that hung up on "looks". The GTR is insane. Wait till his evil big brother shows up.

If you are abandon the Mercedes get a Z06, if you want FAST. The numbers don't add up on the Nissan. Read the article in Post #140.

I saw the car in person last night at the NY Auto Show (Special Charity Event).
The car looks amazing. It is a bit on the big side for a 2 plus 2. Not quite a 3000 GT-VR4, but not an Infiniti G35 either. I have no doubt that I will own it some day. Probably not for a year or so, as I want to let some other anxious folks finish Nissan's r&d for them.
I have been lusting after the GT-R's since I was putting cheap manual boost controllers on my 1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo. Italianstallion - were you even in grade school then? (What a drag it is getting old.)

I may have been in daycare or nursery school....nah, I was home watching Sesame Street with mommy.
Hope to see you around sometime soon Lorenzo. I plan on going to the auto show either today or tomorrow.
