crack on renntech header
thought it was leaking from flange, but the actual weld on one of the runners has a small crack...what a pain. Car sounds like crap at medium throttle...

And although my Kleemann headers have not cracked (fingers crossed) the first set Kleemann sent me was misaligned when welded and had to be replaced.
From reading several posts stainless headers seem to be prone to cracking easier then mild steel. I think EvoSport said that is why their headers were not stainless. Some people have said that ceramic coatings help transfer the heat more evenly on stainless headers and keep them from cracking but I don't know if thats true or not. Perhaps Alltrac should consider coating his headers if he has to remove them to repair the crack.

Get some DTM headers, all others are prone to cracking. I did a quick search of all open forums and found three pages of threads discussing "cracked headers", sheesh. Why bother?

Cracked headers are just due to high amounts of heat, and stainless steel. I dont care who makes them, it can happen. Any knowledgeable tuner will say the same.

A properly designed header should not crack under normal use. Thicker runners along with good welding, precision machined flanges, expansion joints, etc. should not crack, especially on non-turbo cars (including S/C) which can better employ slip / expansion joints. That said on the 5.5, I think that motor has so much movement and that may be putting some stress on headers...

according to renntech, headers are out of warranty...so...5hrs of labor to remove and re-install and another hr for repair...total of $720...oh well

Out of Courtesy they should replace one of them if under a year, Kleeman almost replaced one but I never followed up and provided pictures to Brandon. I guess I was lazy.
