Extremely disappointed with ContiSport 3s

Last week I had my rear's changed from Conti Sport 2s (which I am told are being discontinued) to Conti Sport 3s. They lasted 10500 miles under moderate dirving. As I pull out of the dealership I noticed right away how slippery the back end was. I figured the tires needed a few miles to get proper grip, but after one week, the back end still breaks out much easier than it used to, and these tires are the worst I have had on any car. Are other people having the same issues with the 3s?

Conti tires have never been known to be very "sticky" tires. many members on this forum don't really care for them. i just recently got an E63 which has Conti Sport 3 on them but haven't had time to get many miles on them yet. but when it's time to replace them, i would probably get PS2 or F1 Asymmetric tires.

give the tires some time b/c i believe reviews on these tires are much more favorable compare to the Conti Sport 2s.

+1. i don't know why MB puts Conti tires on AMGs. i wish they put Michelin PS2 like BMW does on their M cars.

I think Gixxer is right. All tires need some miles on them to get rid of the slippery residue from the molding process. He had pretty good 60' times with them at Atco.

all it needs is a quick burn out to get rid of all that residue. tires change a whole lot once they wear all that stuff off. my cousin has them on his 360 and loves em

No fan of Conti's, A lot of people who have run them have had leaking issues, plus they have major sizing issues, the same size tire sometimes is up to inch off in width?

Thumbs up Goodyear

I like Goodyears in general and have had long life and good service out of them. However, I have not had them on a Benz (Toyota Camry w/Eagles and I now have Assurance Comfort Treads on the same car).

I have had Continental ContProContacts on my E320 for about 16,000 miles and they are wearing out quickly. I hate to say this, but I think MB might have been given the best price on a few thousand Continental tires.

Goodyear has bought out Dunlop and I have those on another car. So far, they have been excellent (over 10,000 miles), and they look like they are brand new.

Only Michelin and Bridgestone for me. I smoked the Conti's on my E63 already the other day. Put a little show on for the neighbor :p

I have said it MANY times in the past, "Friends, DON'T let friends drive on Michelin's"

WAY over priced and rated. Try Bridgstone 050 PP's, or Goodyear DS-D3'

WAY cheaper, stickier, is that a word, and last longer. Oh well to each his own, but my Mustang on Yok AV100's out handled my M roadster because of LOUSEY Michelin's. FYI

See yeah

PS: To the OP, 200 miles after intial mounting, and they will be just fine. And no, a simple burnout will NOT get rid of the releasing agent, sorry, but it doesn't work like that.

Ya, that and because the M Roadster has 315+hp and weighs like 2 pounds.

That car is crazy. I had an '01 a few years ago, until I got sick of the size.

Beleive it or not, the 2001+2002 M roadster's weigh in at 3100lbs. I know, it was hard for me to beleive it to, but its true. How the heck they got a shoe box size car to weigh that much is beyond me.

But it was a fun LITTLE toy

See yeah
