Sport 1 vs Sport 2

Ok, I searched and can't find anything about it. What is the difference between these two settings? I checked the owners manual, nothing there. And when I searched on the web I got a CLS review where the author couldnt discern between the two. Thank in advance.

its adjusts the suspension stiffness. S2 is stiffer than S1.

ok...

Yeah I knew it was an adjustment, just had no idea which was stiffer, or in Merc terms "more sporty". Thanks for the help.

thought it was self explanatory.
Level 1 = One level of stiffness
Level 2 = Two times the level of stiffness

Does that make sense?

I might be going crazy, but it seems that the car sits lower in S2.

It is noticably lower. Adjust the settings while sitting in the car with a brick wall or similar marker point at the end of your hood and you will notice the car lower about an inch.

Lucky you! In Finland the roads are crap and I almost allways drive in C mode. With Sport 2 I would plow the snow or kill the suspention in 1 day. As a compromise in summer I often drive S1 on highways. Even in Germany on the old WWII autobahns I couldnt drive in S2, because the vibration is really noticable. A clean new asphalt highway is the only place I use S2.

Well it looks bad in C, but launches faster...

I'm out of town and don't have my manual available but I seem to remember the manual quoted the same ride height for my 07 in both S1 and S2 however I do agree that S2 is stiffer. I left it on a couple of times I shouldn't have and hit some railroad tracks real hard, no bent rims yet but you need to be careful.

Thank you. I wondered this myself, as our US manual does not state the differences (at least I couldn't find it...)
