Hello all -

i am been curious about the AMG logo... i have 'searched' here without much luck. Please let us know what the apple tree, water, camshaft, valve and valve spring (?) all signify. Does anyone have the history on the logo? what year did AMG start using the logo?

(this is a hood badge from Mario)

I also read somewhere that the 2003 Presidential Edition E55 AMG was fitted with an AMG logo, as above, on the ashtray door. Does someone have a part #? Look at me! All eaten up with all things E55 and i'm just joining the hunt for one!

Thank you.

The motor parts of course are self explanatory, but below I posted the official emblem/crest of Affalterbach Germany. Look familiar?

The badge is Mario's (there are two color schemes). It costs $150 and well worth it.

The Apple tree with the river represents where the aftermarket company was MOVED to, Affalterbach Germany, and is simply the coat of arms for the region.

The coat of arms for where it was founded was UGLY!!! grape leaves, haha

"AMG or Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach was founded in 1967 as AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd.) by former Mercedes engineers Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in a town near Stuttgart called Großaspach.
"AMG" is an abbreviation that stands for: Hans Werner Aufrecht (A) and Eberhard Melcher (M) who were partners, while Aufrecht’s birthplace of Großaspach (G) supplied the third letter in the company name....By the early 1980s, AMG had moved to nearby located in Affalterbach"

The presidential edition had the emblem glued all over the place, including on the wheel caps. Ebay it and you can get it all.
