Upholstered Dash
Anyone upholstered their dash? Every time I see a CLS interior or other AMG model with a leather or alcantera dash I wish my dash were covered.
Anyone done a 65 quilted style pattern?

I don't know who the car belongs to but I have some pics of an E55 with Alcantera dash, door panel tops, and leather covered center console. It is gorgeous! I can't post the pics but if you PM me your email address, I will send them to you.

I was going to post a thread about this too!
The one thing that made our CL55 interior nicer than the E63 is the fact that the dash had stiched leather. The suede headliner in the E is much nicer than the cloth that the CL had, but other than that the E is lacking on the interior.
The plastic dash just does not cut it for me, it looks way to close to the E350/550 dash. If AMG had aslo changed the dash to stiched leather, that would have made the E63 interior nicer than the 03 CL55. I was also just looking on the Audi website, and the S6 has a sticked leather dash, but its a 1,400$ option.

Anyone have any price ranges for upholstering a dash? Changing seats to 65 quilted pattern?

I've seen a number of them done. It is expensive (done by hand), but a good upholstery shop can do it. I have seen the alcantera setup and the 65 style. The fit and finish were excellent (looked OEM and I'm picky), BUT I thought the plaid was kind of puffy. Choose your materials. Most of the time, they can just spec out the MB materials.

Well thats a tuff question it depends. Cause I did my whole car the dash, doors, headliner seats I did alot and also the pattern is more money to. So I can't really answer that question but I will tell you that the price was very fair and the quality was really good. The guy who did my interior is the same guy who does interiors for all the brabus cars.

The interior work on your car looks amazing! I'm sure that was not cheap, but the quality looks great. You can't go cheap on something like the interior because with wear and tear it will fall apart if not done correctly.
I would love to do that to the E63, but its a leased car, so I could never justify the price. I would love to have atleast the dash board done like yours, it makes the interior look 1000X better than the OEM platic E-class dash.
One thing I would worry about though is all of the airbags in the car, I'm sure the person who did you interior knows what they are doing, but I would worry about a cheaper install getting the airbags wrong. You cant just cover the airbags in fabric because they will never deploy right, they are on the seats, dash, and roof (I think).

Yes, I feared the upholstery would be costly. Perhaps I will try to just get the dash done . . . as it should have been from factory.

The problem is to make it look right you do the dash, then the lower dash should be done too, then you think the center consolse does not match and before you know it you have done the entire interior.

The interior was done by Platinum Motorsports. They did a really really good job these picture dont to justice also in the interior I had all the wood grain done in Piano Laquor black and as somone else stated once you star one pieces it goes on on and on. All in all though it worth it and it really donesn't cost all the much but I must say make sure whoever does it has experience because of the air bags and all the other stuff involved and of coure the over all quality should be top notch. I started with the dash at first but then I was like you know what do the whole thing then I added the double stictching and the diamond stiching it all depends on how much you wanna spend. I just don't really talk about pricing cause i got a really good deal.
