1st thing 1st I would like to apologize for not getting it on film. It's not that often that I carry a camcorder around in a car that I drive once or twice a month

Now on the encounter,

I'm on the way home from adjusting my air pressure and I see a Z06 shoot out of my old housing developement and I say hmmm I have nothing else to do so I make a U turn and I'm stuck behind a slow *** SUV. So I take a guess on which way he went and I guessed right and he is at the light about 4 cars up. The light turns green and then I see my wife as I cross the intersection and she gives me the "where are you going look" so she turns right and I have to slow down to talk to her and I tell her " I'm trying to catch that Z06" she say "ok" as we approach the next light but he is still 4 cars up.

The light turns green and a couple of cars turn off and I change lanes and now I'm 2 cars back. We go about another 1/8 mile and then the up ahead the light turns red and the car that was now in front of me gets in the left hand turn lane and I'm really getting excited and my hearts starting to pound and then this *** (atleast he was at the time I don't know the guy) gets into my lane so I jump behind the Z06 and he passing that *** and so do I. I jump in the lane next the Z06 and I said " I hope that light up ahead turns red" and it does so now I'm like "holy ****".

I look over at him and told him to roll his window down. He rolls his window down and I said to him " I have to see how fast it is" and he smiles and "says ok" I look in the mirror and my wife is behind me in the ML and I look for any of the city's finest and its all clear. I got him to go from about a 5 mph roll to help me from spinning on the street and then we take off (now I dont want to make a big deal because I don't think it would have changed the outcome but I went on him and we're talking a coulple of tenths) ok so he jumps out a car length right off the bat and I'm at his rear bumper (within 3 feet) and I'm in M mode and I'm nailing my shifts and then I see him hit 3rd and that thing jumped sideways a bit but he's not pulling me and I'm not catching him (didn't expect to) we hit a certain speed and then we had to stop for the next light.

I get to the light and said "thanks man that was a good run, but not bad for a family car huh" and he smiles and "says no not bad at all" I thnk he was wanted me to say "man that thing is fast" which it is but I get the feeling that he thought he was going to blow me away. I wouldn't say a car length and 3 feet would classify as blown away or an *** whoopin! what do you guys think. This happen about 30 min ago and I couldn't wait to share.

I think a will look for him again at another time

oh, and I also want to apoligize to those that I may make upset after reading this for doing this on the street.

HD OUT!

I asked her when she got home how did it look? and she said "ah yeah I was on the phone" then she added It's nice that you can waste $5 a gallon. I told her I was running 95 octane so it's more like $5.75

No not really, she's really into cars though. When she had her Clk430 she use to call me on the phone and ask me "what's faster a 335i (not the new one) or me? I tried to talk her into a 55 wagon but she said " I don't want a station wagon"

At the current time for some crazy reason she really likes the BMW 7 Series

Hope she was hands free.

Would be funny if you and the Z guy didn't get a ticket, and she got one for talking on the phone.

Nice way to hang.

I am just so confused now and nervous to ask this (the last debate went nuclear)

So we have a chance against a newer version Z06??? (meaning modded guys vs stock 6's)

So many of the vids on YouTube are not accurate??

I am just so confused on this sometimes.

Really strange.

Jangy says just another example of the California Z06s. IMO running from a 5mph roll is to the Vettes advantage.

Why be in manual mode? I still don't get why people do that for performance. leave ESP on, and just wait for the light and floor it. The Vette will have a much harder time applying the power. Jamie is simply wonderwoman. all others are just wanna beeees

On the street I spin too much and not knowing what type of driver he was, I thought if I could eliminate wheel spin I would have a small chance. You also have to remember that I have a very fast stock car! With a stage 1 I would have beat him. As for the M mode I always drive around in M mode so my tranny has adapted to me doing so and I combine it with the ESP off. IMO it revs faster when you combine the two modes. M + ESP off = (but you better know what your doing)

LOL@the fast stock car one... I agree you would normally just spin if you pinned it, but I'm saying the Vette is a much tougher beast to launch, especially if he has stock tires. all you have to do is look over. Run flats are a great marketing tool and may even save a rim on blowouts, but they suck for performance.

In either case, nice run and glad you had fun.

From what I can gather, all Z06s will kill VRP powered cars......

Maybe that didn't come out right. We all have fast cars when stock its just that mine is faster than most other stock E55's.

Great run. How fast did you guys get up to? Z06 is the benchmark to beat n most boards and if you can hang like that w/ aZ06, you've definitely got one fast car.

Thats it, im gonna go out and find a stock C6 Z06 to run and get it on video. My car isnt exactly a slow 55 and I know I will get walked. Then I will come here and post it.

you have to understand that the ZO6 as a car is a monster
Not all drivers can handle that car at traffic light speeds on Normal Roads not tracks with glue and slicks.

Same goes for E55 vs lets say E500, the E500 can pull on an E55 at a light due to the 55 spinning its wheels and triggering ESP
and to the mash it comment...don't you will bog, feather it then roll into it.

End of the day Zo6 is faster, in real world though anything can happen and it was a short race (non rolling), 5mph doesn't really count allot for these cars i feel

based on your 1/4 times you should be able to put a fender or two on a Z06. Unless the guy is a "Ranger" type of driver.
