Chicago==Route 66 Raceway Test & Tune 8/26/08
If anyone is interested, I'm heading to the Route 66 Raceway Tuesday Night Test & Tune tomorrow night. Tech inspection opens at 4:00pm
There are going to be some records broken tomorrow, Accu-Weather says it's going to be 77 degrees at 4:00pm and down to the low 60's high 50's by 9:00pm. 55% humidity...it's gonna be fast.
I will be making my first passes with the new Mickey Thompsons mounted up and nitrous oxide installed. 11.20's anyone?

I've been looking for an excuse to go to the track all summer and I think I may have finally found it. I'm yet to get any #'s for my E so this will be the perfect opportunity

If you make it, keep an eye open for me and say Hi. There is a bone stock Black Series going as well, I am really looking forward to some head to head passes with him. That should really help me to gauge how much the mods on my car are giving me over a stock Black Series.

Yes I did run when bone stock last fall, I don't have the slips in front of me, but if I recall my quickest e/t was 12.19, I'm running 11.60's now, but the "experts" say on paper I'm going to gain .200 with the tires and at least .200 with the spray, but we will have to see that the real world has in store for me. I'm going to start off with only a 50hp shot of gas and then go up to 100.
One thing is for sure, if the weather forcast is correct I will not be able to blame any poor performances on the weather, it's going to be near perfect racing weather...at least near perfect for Chicago.

Jim says he's close with ownership but I'm very skeptical if you click off anything quicker than a 11.49 they aren't going to give you a hard time.
Route 66 is one of the best tracks in the world, but unfortunately the hillbillies at the NHRA just haven't gotten with the times yet. I'd love to take my E55 there, it should not go quicker than 11.49, but unfortunately I haven't put my pulley back on yet, so it's not really worth making the trip. It would be great to take the SL down there but I'm just not sure what my schedule is going to be like tomorrow.

please make a few passes without the n2o so we can compare street tires to d/r's on a 63. i've mentioned in the past that the new software on the e55 limits tq in 1st and 2nd and when the track is prepped properly i don't get any better 60ft times on my lightweight ccw 16" rims with mt d/r's than i do on my heavy 19" street tire set up. because of this, i'm curious if the 63 software is similar.
good luck tomorrow.

I hope to see some of you guys out there tonight. I love the look on these rednecks faces when they get the smackdown by a pretty german car, the look on their faces is priceless.

Good luck Jim. Our nights here are getting cooler also. It will be time to go to the track on a regular basis to take advantage of cooler weather. Hope your rear end holds up!!
