Valentine 1 or Passport 9500ix
Anyone have thoughts on the new Passport 9500ix or 9500ci radar detectors? Seems like these new passports are getting good reviews. Could they possibly be better then the Valentine?

V1
I have a V1 and it has saved me many times. I know the technonolgy is pretty old but it still works great.
I heard that the passport is great also.
I am pretty sure you cant go wrong with either

Passport has a better sensitivity and multiple detections at the same time even tough it doesn't have arrows but passport all the way!

These two threads pretty much cover it!!!
I have had my 9500iX for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it. It was the best choice period!
Good luck!!

High & Back on the windshield

Stryker: The gps is internal in the 9500iX. I mounted the 9500iX high and far back on the windshield. It does not interfere with the gps and shields the 9500iX from the heat. The only draw back is the cord hanging from the ceiling. For me it's worth it since I live in the Desert and the heat killed my 8500. The 9500iX is staying cool on drives whether long or just local. I love my 9500iX. If you want, send me a reply and I'll take a picture and post for you.

A few photos late on Sat night
Stryker: I took these from my Jag but basically the setup is the same on my
E55. These shots are from my Blackbery cam and if you need more I can post them. I have mounted the 9500iX as high as I can on the windshield next to the rear view mirror and this placement protects it from the heat in both the E55 and the Jag. The 9500iX will be a great choice, Good luck!

I own a Passport 8500 and just purchased a V1. The V1 offers better range than the 8500 based on my observations. I am not sure how much better the 9500 is than the 8500. I don't care about speed cameras, because there are none where I live. And I don't find the ability to ignore known false alarms to be that great.
If the 9500 doesn't offer greater range than the V1, why spend $100 more? That's my opinion, so take it for what it is worth.
I also have an Escort SRX mounted in my E55, and a K40 Calibre in my Jeep. The K40 is, by far, the worst of my units for KA radar detection.

you can be for either brand/ model you want, but you will only understand what fighter pilots call SA (Situational Awareness) , and why they appreciate this concept so much after you use a V1. When its saved you more times you can count, and you end up passing the threat saying to your self "wow, i became aware of the threat 2 miles ago and im just passing it now?? i had time to slow down, and almost forget about it " and you'll see for your self. save the hassle and the time/ money with other brands and use what works first. the arrows extend your "insight" so that you can be more aware of the entire situation, not just a buzz from a device that detects RF in the air.
not kicking on any other brands, ive had a few old ones because i could never afford the V1 my friends used to have. until i couldn't afford the tickets any more, i wish i had bought the V1 years ago.
good luck either way you choose.

They are both great like others have said but having used them all I'll take the arrows over the GPS. In either case get it hard-wired so you don't have the cord dangling and it turns on with the ignition. I get it done for $50. Good luck.

Best piece of advice I have seen on this thread. I need to upgrade my V1 to the 2008 specs I would bet that I may be one of Valentines longest customers since the V1 came out back in 1991 . I don't drive fast so I don't really have a need for one but it's fun trying to seek them out when your on the highway! My Class A Commercial License keeps me in check! except for that time I ran into that Z06!
