Like Juicee mentioned, our cars tend to shift early from 1st to 2nd unless adaptations were just wiped out. I am very impressed with the shift points; all shifts seem to be crisp and very fast. I could never get my car to shift like that unless I trained the ECU for over 20 minutes

Thanks Big Dog (Bruce)!

What can I say, my head tuner (Dave) is THE man he deserves all the credit in the world.

We're going to incorporate some of out latest changes/findings into John's/Jim's ECU/TCUs.

Thanks
Andy

Thanks for posting up the results. For the first trial run, I'd say those are some good gains over your previous runs. I'm not even a drag racing novice, but just from the various videos I've seen and the video you posted, it does look like your trap was hurt by the DRs. Do you also have a set of street tires you are running? If so, any chance you might run those next friday just for comparison sake?

Also, the video you posted of the shift points, was this in sport mode?

Out of curiosity, would running race gas make any difference on not only a car with stock tune, but an ECU/TCU tuned car set for premium (ie. 91-93)?

Just throwing this out there, but would it be possible to, say for example in the ECU/TCU programming, have Comfort mode and Sport mode setup the same with the exception that when in Sport mode, the car is setup to run on race gas, and when in Comfort, Premium?

I am looking forward to the dyno results as now that we have some preliminary track times, it will be nice to see what kind of power the car is actually making. Hopefully you can really get things dialed in this week and dip into the 11s @ 120!

I'm already looking forward to STAGE II once the final calibrations are made to the ECU/TCU! I think that's when jaws will really drop

Thanks phatmitzu, obsidian, and MB Forever. I'm going to try to tape some quality footage tonight of both speedo/tach and get it posted tomorrow. I'd post it tonight but I'm using a friend's camcorder which also doesn't want to communicate with my laptop.

Andy, I'd suggest you run ECU V1 again on Friday, so you can get a few more passes with different launching techniques. We haven't really seen the full potential of V1 to start moving into V2. The more data, the better

I think now more than ever, after viewing the tach vid a few times, that I was definitely overshooting the stall. I'm going to play with launch rpm and as I said before we'll up the stall speed some more. One way or another we'll hit our goal (safely) of 11s@120 with just the present mods.

Also, the video you posted of the shift points, was this in sport mode?
Yes, sport mode.

Hard to say, maybe, and if so not much. If we tuned for it sure you would pick up some power from the extra timing.

Just throwing this out there, but would it be possible to, say for example in the ECU/TCU programming, have Comfort mode and Sport mode setup the same with the exception that when in Sport mode, the car is setup to run on race gas, and when in Comfort, Premium?
That's not possible unfortunately. Though we can program the car to shift differently (like butter in comfort and rock hard in sport) right now.

Thanks, I can't wait to hit the rollers either. I think V2 will definitely net us the results we've been after. We'll get it done as quickly as we can so we can get a full exhaust and CAIs on, and the tune dialed in (again) before the MIR track rental.

One other thing worth noting is that the car feels stronger the more miles I put on it. The shifts are still firming up and part throttle (WOT is essentially set after 6-7 WOT pulls) continues to improve.

That was great.

Thanks Juicee. You nailed it, consistancy in shift points is a HUGE factor in racing. It's nice not having to worry about a short shift, especially after I haven't beaten on it for a few miles.

What was lost in all of this was the fact you raped a stage three 55 that supposedly traps 124 mph. I never understood why the community knocked fellow member "Rock's" driving.....Least we have confirmation of this .

No videos of the C63 rolling battles?

Here is Andy's 1/4 mile pass

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6qf83rLE80

Car definately has 11's in her

Sorry I didn't have the camera ready this morning. I don't think Rock had his on, but I can't say for sure.

Haha, in all fairness I definitely didn't rape him. The races were very close and literally whoever got the jump stayed ahead for that particular run. It was a blast running such a beautiful and quick car, even more fun than running at the track last night--I don't even know what I ran against lol.

Overall though, yes, I'm definitely happy that the C63 held it's ground against such a great competitor. Looking forward to more runs with Rock in the near future.

Thanks

Hey Juicee, if your not nice to me I'm going to torment you until I make you quit the board for the third time.

Yes, my car has trapped at 124+ (see my TB thread) but anything can happen when you run on the road.

I plan to hook-up with Andy at the track soon in a more controlled environment, so it will be easier to compare the numbers but it is obvious that Andy has done some nice work for the 63 guys.

Give it at least a few more passes using different launch techniques and different setups. This will give us a lot of data to study for V1 tuning. If you can just bring down your 60' time to 1.87 - 1.89, you've got your 11s

Then let V2 fun start

Stop making so much sense.

I guess I should probably post a poll and see what the majority of 63 owners want me to do with the car?

LOL, you're going to like the vids I just took (it's great living so close to MX). I'm going to sit here for a while and try to get the camcorder to play nicely with my laptop. If I can't get them to communicate then they'll be up tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

Ok, I got it to work.

First vid: 0-100ish from a dig. It may take a few more minutes to process.

Second vid: 70-140. Sorry about the camera work at the end.

I wish I could've had that launch (from the 0-100 vid) at the track last night. I just stomped it from a dig, no brake stalling...
