Update: MHP ECU/TCU Tuning (Throttle Blipping, etc, DONE!)
#451
If Andy could bring my stock CLK 63 cabrio up from 475 hp to close over 550 I would be extremely pleased, however I think the $6000.00 buy-in is a bit on the steep side, but then again he is offering stuff nobody else can offer. I assume when other tuners can offer the same thing competition will bring the prices back down to earth.

I need to tell you Andy's C63 is a completely different beast since the tune. I was not at all impressed with the car when he first bought it. The shifts were inconsistant and it felt sluggish and unresponsive out of the hole. He told me with just a tune he would be running low 12's. I didn't believe him. When I drove it, it felt like a 12.7-12.9 car (I have a JGC SRT-8 that runs 12.4's NA, mid 11's with a 175 shot). After driving his car Sat. I am hooked. The power and torque is so linear and consistant and I can't believe how quickly it shifts. You guys need to take him up on his offer and take a test drive. I was in the market for an 09' CTS-V but an now seriously looking at getting a used CLS55 or 63 and getting Andy's tune.
FN. MHP tuned my Jeep GC and supplied all my mods and this last May we had an event where over 60 SRT-8's from all over the country: Jeeps, Chargers, 300's, Mags, raced for 2 days. I had the fasted stock long block NA and the 3rd fastest vehicle overall in the quick 16 with a 125 shot.

just because i'm not easily satisfied doesn't give you or anyone the right to discredit what i'm saying. i've had most of my parts custom built because i don't believe in the rediculous aftermarket prices for marginal performance improvements that mb tuners offer. so please don't lump me in the catagory of someone who simply talks alot and doesn't follow through. also, i don't believe in fancy colors or pr...i believe in numbers and performance. when i see those, THEN and only then will i jump on the bandwagon!
I dont know you - just from what you say in posts - so I'm not "lumping" you anywhere.
I don't really care anymore - I feel so juvenile continuing in this - I stand by what i said 100% - u cant please everybody. Anybody who's been in retail knows this and its also a fact that some people will never be pleased.
Data no data - Dyno #'s Et's whtvr. one of you NOT JUS YOU CHIRO will never be satisfied. Once he gets the HP numbers and the ET's - u will attack the price - and then if not the price you'll attact the fact u cant do TCU w out ECU and on and on and on.
ANd please any post that includes even the slightest questioning of any of the big 3 or 4 is immediately attacked.
I realize not everyone can drop 50k on mods - so I dont fault anyone for shopping around or trying to do this on a budget. Maybe i'm stupid for dropping so much cash - but hell you only live once and I'd like to go fast while livin it.
And Andy is going to help me do just that.
When I'm done - any of u in the area that wants to drive it - go ahead ask.

Just got back from the dyno. The runs posted below are 5th gear (1:1) SAE corrected, hood down, using the same dynojet I always use. I made one pull in 4th gear after and made 433rwhp/383rwtq (+6rwhp and -10rwtq over 5th gear).
427rwhp/394rwtq SAE (Using 17.5% DT loss that's 518hp/478tq @ the flywheel, using 20% DT loss 534hp/493tq):
Compared to stock (sorry no TQ #s for stock since we had to splice into the coil pack wiring today to get the wire isolated, there will be TQ #s from here on out):
As far as I know our V1 tuning just beat every other C63 ECU reflash on the market, and the best part is A/F actually dipped into the 11s at 5800rpm meaning there's an easy 15-18rwhp (a tad more timing in v2 as well) left in the car in a SAFE revision.
For frame of reference look at Rentech's results in 4th gear (producing higher #s than 5th):
Using my 5th gear numbers we're making 33rwtq SAE (counting the 10rwtq I lost going from 4th v 5th gear dynos that's 23rwtq SAE actual) and 15rwhp SAE (counting the +6rwhp loss I saw going from 4th to 5th that's 21rwhp SAE actual), and again we have another 15-18rw coming in v2.
Using my 4th gear numbers (direct comparison) we're up 20rwhp/23rwtq SAE on them--this is with no other mods (aside from tuning) besides filters. The gains will get better as more mods (exhaust, CAIs, etc.) are used.
Finally, me running a 2700lb cam'd LS1/RX7 on the way home, the owner who lives less than a mile from me says it traps 115-116 N/A (how we ran today). He jumped out 1 car from a 20 roll before I hit it.:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilxsELYazbw
So again, I'm calling it right now. We'll be at ~440rw SAE in 5th gear on a DJ with v2, and we should also breach 400rwtq SAE as well with just filters/tuning on a 2400 mile C63.
Renntech, Kleeman, Brabus, whoever, I'll make the offer to run against a similarly modded car of yours ANY day.
Thanks
Andy

I disagree, find me another C63 that's run as quick/fast, or put down better dyno #s, or gone door to door with a K3 E55, etc. You can't.
Too bad you live in CA. I'd LOVE to run you as well. Bring it to MIR when I have a full exhaust/CAIs and retune. You shouldn't have any problem taking my N/A *** down.
440rw coming with v2. We can wager on it if you want.

MBWorld Fanatic!
LOL, if you're as seasoned a racer as you claim to be you should know by watching the video that I bogged (overshot the converter) by brake stalling to 2000rpm. I need to stomp the gas from a dig and I'll be in the 1.8Xs with decent prep NP. You should also know that any kind of bog whatsoever will absolutely MURDER trap speed, it will also hurt ET but not as much as trap speed. I know this because I've been drag racing since the day I turned 16.

wow! so now this has degraded into you challenging me to race for money huh? i dont need to prove anything by racing for money and since it's your challenge you should come to me. but you should at least try to break into the 11's before wasting both our time. and if, by a slim chance, I do make it to mir you better be shooting for 10's with a 150 shot.
Like I and others have already stated, there's a lot more data on the way and in time no one will be able to refute anything; although there will still be some that try, sometimes you just gotta love the net.
Are you trying to tell me you're running 10s (pump gas)?

EDIT: Looks like you're looking for someone to test the tune already Sweet.
Andy,
Thanks for posting some hard data. We know the C63 was dumbed down (for lack of a better term) a bit from the E63's stock engine so it was a given that someone would find where Mercedes hid that extra +/-50 fwhp.
What we are looking at is what will happen to our cars. With your tune are we to expect 518 fwhp? or more or less 570 fwhp. I know you haven't had a chance to tune an E class yet but I think once you do or once you have the information for how this relates to our cars directly...things will line up.
Do you have any "E"'s lined up to tune?
Chomping at the bit over here....

I just threw up a thread looking for a stock E63 for us to tune at a significantly discounted rate, this will be the last discounted 63 variant that we do. There is no question in my mind we'll hit 440rwhp/400rwtq with the v2 tune which is also what I would expect when we tune an E63. Again this is just filters/tuning, no other mods on straight 93 octane.
