So I am wondering why all these Shelby replicas are running around....
All friggin summer I am seeing these everywhere around here...and MOST with 427 badges on the sides.
Finally found the source.
Kirkham has a shop setup 25 miles South of me.
These are are scary sounding. Unless I wanted to get killed or pray for him to blow a launch/spin....I wouldn't even try one.
Now THIS is a nice lumpy cam eh
The stainless looks amazing

That may not be a replica as much as it is a Shelby continuation series.
Is that shop one of the Shelby dealers? There are quite a few authentic CSX4000's out there now that Shelby is producing the rolling chassis. The fiberglass cars are expensive but the aluminum bodies are outragous!
I think the largest Shelby shop is now in Las Vegas.

there are a bunch running around here in Silicon Valley as well. I have 2 buddies that have them and while they are brutish they ride really hard and your feet are on fire due to the very thin firewall.
both of my buddies are punching out 500+ hp and have a hwy gear for cruising but are very bare bones on the inside and with no windows on the sides it gives you a headache.
true my HD did idle smoother than those and didn't have to worry about constantly burning your calf as you stepped out of the car on the side pipe.
for the money ($50K ish) I can think of alot of other cars that handle better, may not be as quick off the line but alot more fun. i am also biased as I am not a big American Muscle Car junky. gimme a 356 tub anyday to roll around in or an old 190sl convt.

I used to have a Superformance aluminum bodied Cobra. A very well made car indeed although I had mine built for VARA events. The car was bliteringly fast, 13:1 compression and LOUD. I had a 351 Windsor stroker motor that dynoed at 575whp. The car was scary fast and about as safe as a motorcycle:

yep as much as one of those old honda crx's I'll never forget seeing one when I was 16 out at baylands raceway where the cobra launched and pitched it completely sideways almost hitting the wall, coming to a complete stop, the driver gets it going again and still pulled of a 12sec 1/4 mile

Find yourself a good engine builder and you will be very happy should you decide to buy one. I hear Roush is making motors for these things - check out this site:

Those FI motors are insane and the power to weight ratio is even crazier.
FWIW - the Kirkham cars are made at an old Mig factory in Poland...

Nope....my 427 replica has been weighed at just under 2100 lbs.... stroked 306 with Vortech VQ blower making about 485HP at the rear wheels on a (small) 9 lb. pulley. Never installed the 12lb pulley as it was not needed.
It is about as much fun as you can have on 4 wheels, but not particularly safe - I rarely drive it above 8/10's on the streets. And it does not have a 427badge on it, because it isn't one.
They can be a beatch to launch on street tires, so don't be afraid to go for it, the sound is definitely worth it!

I've been looking into selling the Cobra for a Superformance or RCR GT40 kit. SPF is a nice car, I've been around a few, but the RCR is more appealing to me due to the better chassis. And I can mod and build it up, rather than getting a rolling chassis.
In CA we have a special registration lottery every year (SB100), might take a year or two to get registration but once you have it, you are registered for the life of the car (just keep the registration payments current). 500 cars added per year.

I was very very happy with the roller. The fit and finish was perfect in every way and dealing with my local Superformance dealer for parts or anything else was top notch. I don't know much about the GT-40, but I'm sure it is on par with the Cobras. The hardest part with these cars is getting them registered, at least in California. That's why I built mine for track only. Sure I would take it on the street for weekend drives and such, but man did it raise a few eyebrows...
