Ipod Iphone Music easy way

This is a great thread. Bought the kit and will do it.

But while getting ready to install and looking around the glove box I noticed a miniture jack in center near the front Factory installed. It's in both my wife and my 2005 E320 CDI. I plugged in a double male 3.5mm jack and cable into my Iphone 5 and selected aux on the command center and great music. plenty loud and great quality. Now you will not see music choices anywhere other than on the phone or ipod. But easy way to get the music.

If this should be in a different forum please feel free to move

Great install instructions. I followed them and installed mine after having let it sit in the box for 2 years ... totally forgot about it.

I decided to run the cable down drivers side instead. There's already a bunch of stuff I ran down the driver's side already so I decided to run this cable together with those.

Second thing is no need to cut the cable tie that is mentioned. Just pry it up and when you're done, just pop it back in. I hate to cut stuff.

It took me more time than I thought it would though. Thanks to OP Yachtmaster .. even though it was posted years ago

THREAD RESURRECTION:

So, will retrofitting this into my E55 and pairing it with
Amazon.com: ViseeO Tune2air WMA1000 - Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for Car Audio Integration: Cell Phones & Accessories Amazon.com: ViseeO Tune2air WMA1000 - Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for Car Audio Integration: Cell Phones & Accessories
get me a decent bluetooth music streaming option?

I could do it for about $200 bucks between purchasing the IPOD kit and the ViseeO device.

I finally got around to installing this yesterday. Firstly, this is how DIY's should be written. Major kudos to YachtMaster for providing this for everybody to see in such detail.

Two points that I wanted to bring up were:

1. I was able to fish my IPOD loom from the backseat and into the front footwell without removing the BPillar, so that might have saved me a little bit of time.

2. I didn't pin out the plug into the audio gateway. It took me about 25 minutes just to find the damn thing, and the plug was up and in an incredibly difficult place to find. So I spliced the new loom in. (a proper splice. Not twisting ends and electrical tape. lol).

Again, props!

Oh, and I didn't need any STAR activation for it. Saw it right away and the IPOD shows a Mercedes-Benz star on it while plugged in, and all the controls are through the cluster.

Next I'll be buying the bluetooth unit mentioned above.

Question

Hey guys - great thread. I did this myself many years ago. I took my "antique" white iPod out as the battery would no longer hold a charge, and attached a lightening adapter and iPhone. I can see the song on the dash, but no audio comes out. Are the new iPhones (6/7) supported (current iOS)? Does anyone have an iPhone that is working with this OEM IPOD kit?

Thanks.

My current CLS55 came with this style plug wired into the glove box. The factory AUX hole doesn't work, so I bought the lightning adapter to plug in my ipad. Command unit registered AUX as one of my options, so it was picking up something, but no sound came out. Thinking about gambling a hundred bucks on some old version of ipod to see if I can get some tunes. They are on ebay, but which one to buy?
