Renntech ECUs for E63s are $3495.00 not including TCU. So we made more power, more safely, at less cost than the current reigning champ.

Let's see, more HP, more TQ, less $, + the option of TCU (which no one else can do)...

Pretty sporty IMO.

We did decide to sell 63 ECU/TCU tuning seperately recently as there were simply too many requests to turn away. Cost for ECU or TCU only for E/CLS 63s is $2500: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...light=ecu+only

How much does Renntech charge for ECU only for E63s?
didnt know you started that, but not dissapointed that I did both. I did see an increase on ECU too.
Renntech advertises 3500 for their ECU. I didnt have to pay that much for some reason but wasnt hugely far off.

Actually Tom uncorrected they would have been 422 to 421 so a difference of about one horsepower. The Renntech pull actually had better weather, don't focus so much on room temp but more on barometric pressure because that's more important.

All in all I would have to agree the area under the curve is better with the mph tune.

He could run 91 if he had to. Like I said before, we're not here to blow anything up.

We still think combo tuning is the only way to go, as you've witnessed first hand. Track results from MIR will really allow the TCU to shine.

DOH!!! I would NEVER do it!
I would go buy some octane booster if I ever found myself in that scenario, but nice to know it could be done.

Thats what I think. the TCU seems nice and aggressive. I look forward to some racing soon

Thanks Albert,
We gained ~9rwhp and ~6-8rwtq at peak going from v1 to v2 but gained 2.5mph in trap speed and knocked off .17 in ET. As you pointed out it's all about area under the curve.

does your e63 have the matched revs when downshifting?

too bad there isn't a stock graph from that dyno.... seems like a lot of mods and $$ for the amount of power produced from either tune.....

tuning the C63 is definitely worth it, but the gains on the E63 just don't seem to be that big.... maybe that dyno is really conservative..... any plans to take it to the track?

after all the bashing,BS,and on top of that insults, this is it.
1)renn tune(which was paid for)+headers=?hp gains
2)mhp tune/renn tune=?hp gains!
3)stock+mhp tune=?hp
for a stock car, the gains with mhp tune imo, does not warrant the price and the uproar.it is beyond me.

Area under the curve does look a little bigger with smoother lines. Very interesting results thus far...... do you have the 4th gear data yet?

Jeff did mention something about the dyno brake being serviced a few weeks back at the shop he uses. I don't know anything more than that but if he traps 4mph higher than he did before (Yes he's going to MIR and has Renntech track data for comparisons sake) we'll call it a "conservative" dyno.

I still find it rather hilarious that people can complain about our pricing when they readily shell out $2k for a 80mm TB for a E55, $2k for 63 airboxes, $10k for a supersprint exhaust...and none of those mods even comes close to adding as much power/tq or getting you down the track quicker/faster than a simple ECU/TCU tune from us.
The graphs displayed above show a clear advantage in area under the curve (Avg HP/TQ wins races, peak numbers are really only good for dyno jockeys) and peak numbers (nowhere did the Renntech tune make more power or torque than ours), despite having a safer A/F (meaning there's more left on the table for us than there is for Renntech) and having a lower price ECU to ECU than Renntech.
Last I checked Renntech was the performance benchmark for MB/AMG tuning as far as results go.
Again, more power, more torque, with a safer A/F and the ability to do TCU on a 7A (which no one else can) offered at a less expensive rate than the former segment leader charges. If you can't grasp those simple facts I don't know what to tell you.

The peak HP gain is very nice, but the curve is what is even more impressive. The MHP tune makes more HP earlier and it ramps up faster and keeps it above the Renntech all the way to redline, this would be more evident and impressive on a road course than it would at a drag strip, which excites the hell out of me.

We might get some dyno figures out of mine tomorrow , I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

yeah i have it but since 4th isnt 1:1 I thought posting the 5th was more relavent. Sig other is on the machine with scanner hooked up, so gonna have to wait til she is done in a while to scan it in. i will post it later if not too late. Worst case in the morning. Sorry.

Gotta pay to play. modding these cars is expensive. Not like an american or asian car that you can through a few grand into and add 100 hp.

Yes I have been to the track several times this year and am planning on 11/07 at capital raceway to get some preliminary 1/4 mile runs in beofre the 11/15 event at MIR.
After both events i will post slips of times. From what I can tell i should be faster then my recorded 12.14 run a couple weeks ago.(hopefully)

If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you get your RENNtech tune?

Andy great job, looks like you are starting to get some concrete data.

to be perfectly honest with all of you. I got the renntech tune on my little C55, I think its great. But.... sometimes when i jump on it and the car kicks down into a lower gear then on to the next I get a delay like the car does not know what to do. I have done a lot of bolt on mods and I dont know if the stock renntech tune is good still,??? or should i think about a new flash??? Maybe in my C55 there isnt much more to gain from an ECU than i already got.

A couple of things....I have been thinking about with regards to this comparison. First of all, does anyone know if all RENNtech tunes are the same? What I am getting at is MHP tailored the software to Jeff's exhaust and intake mods. I believe that Jeff got the RENNtech software before he did any mods (correct me if I am wrong). Would RENNtech have offered different software to match these mods? If so, wouldn't comparing the mod tailored software be a more fair apples to apples comparison. If not, MHP is the clear head to head winner in the dyno. I don't know the answer, can someone who has actual experience with RENNtech software answer this?

Second point: if you live by corrected 1/4 mile numbers...you should die....err I mean have to use them to compare runs. Jeff may very well trap 3-4mph higher just because it is -2500ft DA day at MIR. I think Jason brought the portable weather thing to MIR on Columbus day and it was showing 10 degrees warmer than reported on the dragtimes DA calculator. I think he said it was between 700ft and 1500ft that day. So we should factor that in when we do the runs to compare the two softwares' performance. Hey, I hope for Jeff's sake he picks up some huge numbers and it isn't all DA related.

I had kept my c55 stock other then filters... so dunno. mayeb somoene else can chime in on that...You might be a candidate for a tcu tuning if your ecu tuning is still good. i dunno...

This has to be the worst money spent on any recent MB "tune".

What is really funny, is the references that they dont want to "blow" anything up as if this tune would even approach that feat.

Sorry, it had to be said. Buy an intake and some long headers and leave this alone.
