Just bought 2 PS'2 for the rear at Sam's club (about $370 a tire with everything) and talk about sticker shock!! They are also now charging $17 per tire if you have TPMS. I have used Sam's in the past and this is the first time for the TPMS charge. Sam's is still cheaper than the stealership by about $50 a tire mounted and balanced ($420 a tire - although I prefer the dealer balancing) and cheaper than Tire Rack after road hazard and mounting.
I love my PS'2, but this is painful, especialy when I am losing my *** in the stock market!! I just wish I got more than 7,000 miles on my rear tires.

Tell me about it! I just posted about this not too long ago, when I took a car in for new tires and was greeted with a nearly $1700 bill when I picked it up. Michelin has jacked the prices on PS2's by like 30%+ in the last few months. They're around $400 a tire now. F*ing ridiculous.
With the new pricing, you're within a hundred dollars of being able to buy TWO COMPLETE SETS of contisport2's, bridgestones, etc., and actually could buy 2 & 1/2 COMPLETE SETS of vredesteins or anything in that price range and still have money left over. The PS2 is a better tire, but the difference isn't big enough to justify a 200% premium, and it just isn't worth it for me anymore. I'm going back to conti's next time.

Damn, have they gone up in price!
Last time I purchased rears was less than six months ago and I paid roughly $320 each, mounted on the car. I love the PS2's but at that price I'll be looking for something else.

Tire Question ??
I'm about to change my rear PS2s for new ones as well. I've noticed that my right rear tire is worn out A LOT MORE than the left tire, is that normal?

Ya, jeep hit it on the head. Unless you have a limited-slip diff, the one rear tire will always wear quicker. I still can't believe MB cheaps out on diffs like they do. Honestly, any car with more than about 300hp or so should really come stock with an LSD.

Another reason why your right rear wears out faster is the torque of the engine. Sit in the car in park and rev the engine and you'll notice the car lean to the right.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but when you watch any car at the track, the left front comes up, the right rear squats. Engine torque puts more demand on the right rear tire.

I don't think it's the diff that causes RR tire wear. I think it's more the torque factor which applies more torque to the RR tire under hard acceleration than the the LR tire.

I am hoping that a Quaife helps, but it may just be how the driveline sits and transfers TQ. I don't mind the look, since i wish my front end would lift, but I do wonder if there isn't some traction to add....

The way you drive, 2500 miles out of any rears is "normal". Also, you are lucky to have the wider body that holds a 305 so nicely. Traction could be a factor for you against the E class, since we can only get so much rubber under there. How wide are your rims? I'd think the CLS could hold 335s on 11 inch rims nicely....

I have heard GREAT things and SCARY things out of the Vreds. Scary is a number of failures (sidewall), but I don't think there was any damage. the good is the price and performance. Also, some MB spares are made by them so they can at least pass an audit.
