Seats: E55 vs E63
Hi Folks
I am having a hard time deciding between an E55 and an E63, and in my research found that E55 has nicer seats (Active bolsters and massage).
Can anyone familiar with both cars comment on the seats?
Also, is it difficult to retrofit E55 seats into an E63?
Thanks in advance for your comments

I have the 55 with the Dynamic seats and it is a hoot. The massage feature is quite practical for long drives... the Dynamic seat feature is fun but I'm unsure how practical it really is as I mostly just hammer it in a straight line...

I have an E55 with Dynamic seats. It is a fun option and they can be adjusted to grip nice and tight. The message part is not very useful.
The E63 seats look a bit cooler and might be a tad wider on the back for those that are larger around the middle.

Women love the Dynamic seats. You will hear OOOOooooHHHHH the seat just hugged me.
Do a search for the retrofit, I recall someone else posting about it.

Hi MJ50, both cars are faster than I need! Either car is beast enough for me!
Yatch Master - agreed re women and seats! I tried doing a few searches for "retrofit" and "E63" etc and could not find any existing threads. Would you or someone else point me to the previous thread on this topic - thanks so much!
Thanks again everyone for your help

MBenzNL should be able to tell you exactly what's involved as Steve is the master of retrofits.

as far as I know, all US spec E63s come with multcontour seats...as long as a car has that, the upgrade to dynamic seats is not that hard (and not that cheap either as the DD control units inside the seats are rather expensive and the hardware in the trunk isn't cheap either)...
I already upgraded several multicontour seats to Drive Dynamic seats - very well doable.
btw, my wife hates the dynamic and massage functions
greetingz,

Also, what hardware is in the trunk? Air accumulator or pump?
BTW, My wife loves being felt up be the seats...cheap thrills.

Another option would be to Buy another set of FULL Option seats then install them.
I Did That on the 209/210/211 from Steve @ MBENZNL.com
Btw the OLD seats make perfect office chairs

Hi guys,
Based on everyone's comments here, it looks there are 2 ways to get the nice seats in an E63:
1) upgrade the existing seats (US spec E63 multicontour) to include Dynamic Drive and Pulse features
2) or, get completely new seats (from an E55? or from a Euro-spec E63?) that have Dynamic Drive and Pulse
Can MARK CUMMINS or MBENZNL comment on the cost (and pros/cons) of the 2 options (PM me if appropriate).
Thanks again for everyones help

I Think that you would be better off purchasing another set of FULL option front seats...OR Locate a Complete Interior from a car with FULL Option front seats...TWO Tone ? or Alcantera?
As If you want FULL Option seats you will need.....
Complete top/bottom leather seat covers for heated/vented/drive dynamic seats as the covers are different for the options as well as New seat back covers as the seat back cover has vent slots for cooling, cooling fans, wire harness, connectors, pins, clips, lots of misc hardware
seat bladders for the seat back center and both sides, seat bladders for the seat bottom.new seat control switch l/r sides for dynamic and massage feature..also side seat air bags...and control units .Then the labor to convert your old seats
The Install is the same either way PSE pump and lines to the seats and wire harness also a switch row for the heat/cooling control
Lesson learned on the W210 ..added seat heaters..Then Ended up getting another set of Heated/cooled/multicontour front seats ...
On the 209 We changed the entire interior to a AMG Two Tone with Heat/Vented/Multicontour front seats
re the costs I Get SEVERAL Items at a time so I Dont remember the break down on the seats...Contact Steve or Big Sis for Current prices
The Full option front seats are my second favorite mod on the 211
First place is DISTRONIC...thats a MUST have once you have driven a car with it
Good Luck on your seat upgrade

NO Need to use a shop on the conversion....
Buy a Office chair base..make a simple bracket to secure the seats...
10 min to make Two
Since you are in LA stop over and Inspect them in person and see how simple it is to make them work
I Still need 110 to 12V converters to make the Full Power seat work
