Racing 60-130 mph?
What is a good benchmark for the 60-130mph on our cars? One of our tracks has this style of race format once a month or so.. Here is how it works..
What is 60-130?
60-130 is a track event where cars are equipped with VBox GPS-based accelerometers that measure acceleration from 60 to 130 mph. Drivers and cars run single lane down the dragstrip and start accelerating from a roll at about 40 mph and then let out at just over 130 mph. Then the data chip in the VBox is removed and the time from 60-130 mph is measured and given to the driver.
Who can compete in 60-130 events?
Any car or driver can complete as long as they have a car that is at least a mid to low 12 second 1/4 mile car. Cars running slower than this will not be able to get to 130 mph before its time to slow down on the track.

You guys must have one heck of a track to be able to take those measurements. I assume that it starts at a static 60, as opposed to accelerating from rest and measuring the time under full acceleration.

The Vbox does the measuring not any track sensors. You can buy a Vbox and do this on the street if you wanted to. Its legal at the track though. I would try it out if the local track did something like this It is not a static 60mph either. You start accelerating before 60mph. Vbox is GPS based

That's an interesting race format. While I don't have a benchmark for you, I can tell you that our blown Benzes excel at this!

I know you start from a 40 mph roll .. This track was bought out and competly re-done by Hennessy motorsports a while back.. They have a road course, 1/4 mile and 60-130 mph racing.. I have not raced there , since it was re-formated.. I am just looking for an idea of what our cars may run.. I don`t have a clue.. I know people have these races on our freeways all the time but I have stayed out of that for a ton of reasons . Legal, sounds pretty cool though..

You are modded, spraying nitrous, and weight modifications. It was also done on a sticky track with sticky tires. Your car actually might do 0-60 in less than 2.5s on the track with the tires and track prep.

I can plug it in and post the results if you give me the 60', 330' and 1/8th mile times.

A buddy gave me a pretty good calculator in Excel using a regression model to calculate 0-60 acceleration using 60', 330' and 1/8 mile times. It spits out 0-60mph time, 0-60mph distance and calculated 1/8 mile speed. It was pretty accurate.

WOw, I did not realize other forums kept track of this time.. I just found the list below, so have a pretty good idea now.. Or at least what to shoot for..
GPS based performance accelerometer times (Drift Box or Performance Box)
PLEASE NOTE: Only GPS based, data-logger times from either Drift Box, Performance Box or V-Box units will be accepted for this list. No extrapolated times from 1/4 mile time-slips.
Also, all submitted data must be reviewed for accuracy and approved by me before the time is posted. Simply attach the data off of the Drift Box/Performance Box SD card and email it to me at divexxtreme@hotmail.com . When I have time, I will review the data and let you know the results.
Please note; all submissions that show greater than a 3% downhill slope over the course of the run will not be accepted. If there are errors or if I find other problems with the data, it will not be posted as an official time.
Also, I won’t be posting HP numbers in this list. From personal experience, it creates more problems than it’s worth. If you want to find out the estimated and/or dyno’d HP of a car in the list, you will have to do a search.
The below list can include any BMW vehicle that belongs to any member of this forum.

1. A Vbox is too expensive. Most of these runs are done with a PBox. Same company, different model. - OK, I see you note it in the second post
2. Given the times posted on the list seems like these had to be done on a >1/4mile "track". Ya think!?
3. I think I have some old data before my software was updated by the manufacturer - I would be faster now. I will post it whan I get home.
One more thing to think about. This is raw GPS data. Not only is it saying how fast, it is saying where you were going that fast. I think I will plead the 5th?

Here is a 60-130mph (8.45s) I ran a couple of weeks ago. I will be using my pbox at the next MIR rental (hopefully on Wednesday). It will be interesting to measure some more GPS based 1/8 and 1/4 mile times and traps compared to the timing equipment.
