E55 (Stg.1?) Vs CLK63 Black Series
I was coming home from a short day at the office this Sunday and I happen to get a glimpse of a wide body CLK. The car caught my eye as I used to have a CLK55 and noticed that this one had serious work done to it, until I realized that it was the Black Series. After spotting it I noticed that the guy was driving it fairly aggressive, so I figured this is an opportunity I can’t pass up and started to creep up behind him.
While the traffic was somewhat moderate, we did a few runs with one of us behind the other. I noticed that as I accelerated from 60+ when no cars were in front of me, it took him quite sometime to catch up. I also noticed that I usually was able to close the distance with ease while behind him (while still keeping a safe distance).
As my luck would have it, he took the same exit I needed. This smaller stretch of the freeway was less busy so we were able to step our game up to 3 digit speeds. I was in front of him and once accelerated at 70 or so I noticed that he was just not keeping up. The next time he was in front of me (not by choice, but due to the traffic) and once he gunned it I was on his tail from 80+ to well into 130s closing the distance. Once he saw me creep up from behind he immediately slowed down.
He tried a few things here and there, but by then the road got busier and with the trucks around it started to get a bit dangerous. I have my new Zimmerman rotors and ceramic Akebono pads to thank for saving my behind after a truck appeared out of no where!
Anyhow, I guess the moral of the story is that I heard the talk about the E63 being able to walk on E55 at high speeds, even the modded 55s and it does not hold water from my experience. This was a lighter CLK63, and a Black Series to boot, and I was still able to pull on him and pull away from him fairly easy at 3 digit speeds. I do have to say that his exhaust sounded very nice as his engine hit the upper revs.
I currently only have an ASP pulley, Evo tuneo, and K&N filters.

You probably got 50 hp on him with your mods. The weight as mentioned above is negligible at speed.
E55's dont really have 469hp as the factory said remember!!!!
Nice runs!!

No surprise - as Vic stated your's is modded, his was clearly not. Everyone knows the E55 is great for straight line speed...throw some turns in there and the results would have been much different.

Oh I agree with you. Its just that some members here are stating that 63s hang with stock and modded 55s at high speeds, and that is simply not the case from this scenario.

I agree. I feel sometimes that my car is going to lose it completely on turns. That is why for turns I am saving up for a 996TT

Anyways, nice kill, your E55 will only get stronger as you go into stage 2 and 3.... The products and mods for the 55k platform keep on coming in at full speed

Yes, when it was stock:

Might dyno it again... but I had the mods for over a year now so I kinda lost the drive to do it over time.

Yeah thanks ... that's the same car you insisted that I didn't have. Or have you forgotten?
Here, I'll remind you:

I'm not trying to start anything here because I know you just wont shut up until you have the last word... I'd just thought I'd remind you. Now leave my post alone.

I raced jrcart in his modded bs when i only had a pulley and tune, off the line, e55 is faster because of jrcart's huge power spinning the wheels, but after 80 he walked by...

No grudges, it is just one of many opportunities many of us have to show others what a piece of work you are. You have disgraced yourself many times over in other threads as well, but those weren’t in my court so I never bothered responding. It seems almost seems as if you’re proud of it. Keep it up then I guess.

The price is good on them these days, unless things change I'd like to pick one up for track events. I believe there are ways to hook those things up to a laptop and have a readout on exactly how it was treated. Over revs and things of that nature. Ideally I'll run into a garage queen that is being unloaded.

plenty of 55 vs 63 matchups Saturday @ Famoso,
I believe your E55 would have done exactly the same thing to a stock E55. A pullied 55 has a big advantage , especially your car which seems to be quite healthy
