2004 TPMS reactivate message?
My new 2004 E55 has the malfunction message ( reactivate tire pressure monitor system) The previous owner said the dealer wanted to replace all the sensors at $1500.00. Anyone else had to deal with this one?
Thank you.
Thank you.

I'm dealing with it right now. When it asks to reactivate, hold the reset button. If nothing happens and eventually you get a error saying visit workshop or some junk, then you need to replace the sensors.
You can buy the sensors from one of the many online wholesale MBZ parts stores, or also at www.tirerack.com, for much cheaper than the dealer and then just take your car to any tire/wheel shop and have them installed.

Yeah mine started to say that too. At first I could reset it but now it will never read the sensors. Pretty sure the batteries are depleted and I need to buy new sensors. If you find out a way to check to see if the batteries are bad and on which sensor let us know.

You need to replace the tire pressure sensors in the wheels. Then after driving for about 10 miles reset them and they should be all good. I replaced mine earlier this year. Tirerack had the best prices.

Sensor(s)? Isn't it just one that went bad?
How about shutting off the tpms entirely? I could care less for it honestly and would rather not bother with the sensors for my new set of wheels.

^^ Thats what I wanted to hear, thank you. I suspected that's exactly what could be done.
Funny how she goes, this warning message came up on the dash 2 days ago. Today my new wheels are coming in.

Shutting them off is an option, but personally I like that you can read individual tire pressure from your cluster.

Reviving an old thread. I'm getting the same malfunction message. Does the same procedure apply to Canadian cars or is the sensor a simple/cheap replacement?
