Water Spray
Has any one made a water spray for the heat exchanger.
Like the lancer evo that sprays water on to the intercooler at a touch of a button or automatic when the car comes on to boost.
I am thinking of doing a set up maybe getting the pump and bottle from the sti or evo and hooking it up maybe with a switch. When i turn it on it will keep spraying none stop till i turn it off.
Should help the heat exchanger cool things right down.
What do you guess think ?

The reason a water spray works on a air/air IC is because the water being sprayed can absorb much more heat than the air in the cooler. in our cars --the things that runs through the HE is WATER.
Imagine an open flame and you with a squirt bottle of water. If you spray the flame--it may go out and u may even be able to touch it. Now imagine a vat of boiling water---you think ur little spray of water is going to cool down that vat?
Short answer--->keep lookin

yea your right it might not be worth it. Its just i watched a video of a lancer evo 7 on the dyno and they do a run with the water spray on and one run with the water spray turned on. The evo made a few more kw at the 4 wheels with the water spray on so i guess it made a nice gain at the engine. But like HYEPWR said the heat exchanger is not like the evo cooler which is air to air so it might not make a big gain on are car.

sorry--- I wasnt more clear---I was half asleep. I dont want to bore you with the physics of it---but trust me----it wont work without ALOT of water...as in the HE is submerged. again...it has to do with the amount of energy required to lower the temp of water 1 degree. if the water in the HE is 160*f --it takes much cooling to lower it 1*. Spraying water is marginal at best.
