That way, you wont need to pay to get the car inspected and you will be able to potentially use all 5 years of the coverage if you keep the car that long. Otherwise, if you were to get the warranty today for instances, you would get 7 years of coverage from your inservice date. So for me, I would be paying all that money to get only 2 years of coverage.

Am I making sense?

I'm sorry, my response above was referencing my car with 26,000 miles, and I'm now realizing that your car has 45K. I highly recommend speaking with Michael, he is a great help
Thanks for the reply. After reading the thread it looks like an inspection is needed when applying for the warranty, only if the car is over 48,000 miles. Others mentioned that if your car is still under warranty, the highest number of years one can purchase is the 5 year / 70K. If the vehicle is out of warranty one is able to purchase the 6 or 7 year plan. Is this correct? I wouldn't mind getting the 5 year / 70K miles (with one year concurrent with my CPO warranty).

you have it wrong wampa. If you are out of warranty you can get the 5/70 warranty, but if you are still in warranty you can get the 7 year but it is not really 7 years. It starts the date you first had your car in service under your current warranty. So, if it was in 05 you would get 2 years of full coverage.

You can still get the 5/70 if you are under the factory warranty as well. Thats what I did, the date and mileage will start from the date and mileage the warranty is purchased. For example, in September my mileage was 47,??? but my warranty run out date was May 2010. So i purchased the 5/70, my warranty now goes to 117,??? miles or September 2014.

Hi Guys, Looks like everyone here has been pretty set on the chrysler warranty. I'm currently debating between the MB extended limited warranty 7/75 (total) and the chrysler factory plans 7 yr. 85k plan. The difference between them is $600. (MB a bit more from the quotes i got.) Was wondering why you guys choose the Chrysler plan over the MB plan? just the cost? Or does anyone actually feel the chrysler plan is more extensive? Thanks!

Thanks Squidj for the reply. It started getting confusing. Since someone mentioned that they were able to purchase, the five year warranty that started on the day of warranty purchase(with their car still under warranty). Since my CPO warranty expires next year, and my car is at about 45,000 miles, I was hoping to purchase this warranty in the next couple months.

WTF?! Two absolutely different opinions. I got what Mikey33 said, it is not really 7 years warranty.

All,

Just got off the phone with Michael. Here is what I have found. Hopefully, this will end the debate on inception date or warranty date as I think he made it pretty clear.

I have a 2006 E55, with just over 40K miles. The in-service date puts factory warranty up in March 2010. So, I am still under warranty.

Quote:
Max Care 7/100 (for cars still under warranty)
$100 deductible
$3,065
This would start at in service date 03/06 and take it out to 03/13 or 100K miles.

MaxCare 5/70 or 4/Unlimited (for cars not under warranty)
You can still buy this if you are still under warranty but you should buy it ~2 weeks prior to factory warranty expiration. NO inspection fee if done this way.

5/70 would take me out to 2015 or (~40K+70K)=110K miles
or
4/Unlimited would take me out to 2014/unlimited miles

$100 ded
$3,460

$200 ded
$2,810

Same price for 5/70 or 4/Unlimited

I hope this helps everyone as I was pretty confused with all the different scenarios I've seen on here.

Now, I just need to decide which plan is best for me.

Thanks for the info brettmf. Personally I am leaning toward getting the 5/70 with the $200 deductible plan, since it starts the day that it is purchased. I can invest (or spend on mods ) the saved $650 (when compared to the $3460/$100 deductible). Plus I don't drive the car that often about 12K miles a year. So that would keep me under the 70K mark.

I'm definitely leaning to the add-on or post warranty coverage...I want it extended as much as possible. If you buy the other one you only get an additional 3 years max.

Isn't there also a clause stating that if the car is under 48K in miles, that no inspection is needed? I guess I'll try to purchase my warranty closer to the 48K mark (currently 45K), but before my warranty expires.

You have to still be under factory warranty for there to be no inspection...whether its the miles or years...still under warranty, then no inspection. I clarified that you can purchase the post-warranty, extended maintenance while still under warranty but he suggested leaving a 2 week lead time prior to expiration.

Has anyone purchased the warranty from anyone/where else than Michael Case/Ziegler group? (If so, conatct? website?)

I'm just wondering if there is ability to get a lower price or negotiate price.

I Googled Chrysler Ext Warranty and got numerous websites but prefer something that has been tried and tested from folks on here.

So I "bought" the warranty from Michael 2 weeks ago. I have bought in quotations, because my card still hasn't been charged for the down-payment. I got the automatic receipt/e-mail that says I'm covered, but have not once heard a word from Michael. He never asked for my inspection form, never called to talk about the payment plan, nothing. Not even an e-mail. I've sent a couple of e-mails to him since then, and still nothing. I'm starting to wonder who this guy is and what kind of business he's running. Absolutely ridiculous!

Has anyone talked to the guy in the last couple of weeks?

Have you tried calling him direct? Maybe he's busy?

Keep us updated.

I am the person back on page 5 who posted his information. I never went with him though, and went with Fidelity, sold that car, and now am picking up a new (used) 55k or 600 and will need warranty again. Seems like Chrysler is cheaper than Fidelity and just as good.

For people that are buying the car, get the inspection done at time of sale because if something is wrong - the dealer/person your buying from may pay to fix whatever it failed for or at least take off on whatever the sale price is PLUS you will have the sheet so when you want warranty you can use it. Heck maybe the dealer your buying from or the private person will pay for the inspection or 1/2 of it.

Calling him is worthless, I've been trying for over a month to actually talk to him, left numerous messages, etc.. I just sent an e-mail to him and copied Schaumburg Chrysler Jeep(the dealer where he is located) expressing my frustration. If that doesn't get a response then I don't know what to do. I'd be more than happy to drive out there and waste a couple of hours just to get it done. I'll call the main dealership number tomorrow if I don't hear anything.

My memory has clouded me, is the Chrysler warranty transferable?

What is the fee to transfer it to another private seller?

and is there a paper you have to submit I am guessing that turns it over to the other person?

It is, and I believe there is a form in the document library at www.chryslerfactoryplans.com. I don't remember if there is a fee. I think it was either free or a very small fee.

I received an e-mail back from someone at the dealership. Her response was:

"You need to contact Mike Case he is internet Warranty, we do not handle this.
888-324-3464 info@chryslerfactoryplans.com"

Wow, thanks for the help. Apparantly the solution for "I have not been able to get ahold of Michael for a month via e-mai or phone" is to give me his e-mail and phone number.

I was hoping that someone at the dealership, who's name is all over the contract, would maybe give Michael a call and find out what's going on. Even if he doesn't have an office in Schaumburg at the dealer it shouldn't matter. Maybe the owner or the GM would be better at getting things done? Am I being unreasonable here?

I'd be happy to go with anyone else at this point for the Chrysler warranty, but I already gave Mike my CC information and I am not going to go through someone else until this transaction is cancelled.

What about calling Chrysler warranty directly... give them your name and told them that you gave a rep who does their warranty your info, and explain your situation.. you should be in there system and/or only bill you once.. I bet they can resolve it.

What price did you pay?

What year is your car/model/mileage?
