SL65 VRP825 vs Nissan GTR
All,
One of my buddies has a GTR that he thinks is pretty awesome.. He's done a bunch of work to it, adjusted the boost, exhaust, tune etc.. he says that he has 450whp..
I just got my SL65 from VRP a few weeks ago..
Anyway, enough of that stuff.. all you guys want to know is how they ran right??
From a dig, the SL KILLED him.. big time.. could never catch me..
From a 30mph roll.. the GTR pulled me by about 1-2 lengths to about 120..
From a 50mph roll.. the GTR would pull me by about 1 length to 120..
From about 80mph.. the SL would pull the GTR and the GTR couldn't catch me..
Then we just did a flat out run.. and he could hang w me to about 140, and he was getting kinda toppy.. while the SL was still pulling fairly hard..
He says, that his car runs 11.6 126mph.. no way to confirm, just his story..
Hope you enjoyed a little of my afternoon with me :-)

Funny............the GTR should rule from a dig since it has AWD. He was probably too scared to launch it HARD and toast the crappy transmission. Good kill and awesome cars though.

I wonder why you didn't kill the GTR from a roll if all he is pulling is an 11.6 at 126..should be much easier to kill since you take away the AWD..

Sounds like a gr8 time!! Thank you for sharing I'am confused as well on how your 2wd took the AWD from a Dig? On the streets of all places IE traction should've been majorly limited on your end?? but he takes you from 30 & 50 mph rolls?? other heavier CL65's are Trapping 128-130+mph in the 10's, your RWTO must be in the 800's I can't help but think somethings amiss
Story makes no sense and defies all laws of physics
With 800 RWTQ no GTR is gonna pull from a Roll in this lifetime

How about if the GT-R was hiding something...maybe some little juice? That might explain why he pulled away from a roll. Most don't really disclose everything under the hood...right. Just a thought if things don't make sense.

155 more WHP should have sealed the deal from a roll, regardless of the weight...that's a MAJOR power difference...
Is something wrong with the SL? Maybe the other poster was right, could the GTR have been spraying?

Out Of Control!!
What kind of tires were you running? I dont understand how you were doing such low rolls on street tires without traction issues. Wish you had this on vid. I doubt the GTR was spraying.
Did you give up on the quad turbo thing? I thought it was posted that it was done quite a while ago and just needed tuning

My buddy was definately babying the thing b/c of the tranny from the dig..
He did not have any spray..
I don't have his list of mods.. he told them to me, but I wasn't paying that much attention.. I just wanted to run-em..

As the others have said, this seems like a role reversal. The GT-R shines from a dig (I own one) and the 65 is the roll beast (I used to own one/modded). There is no just no wheel spin in the damn car- it amazes me. Mash and go and you are off!!!
There are many GT-R's running low 11's right now with one simple mod, the Cobb A/P tune. The car has an amazing ability to transfer power to ground with incredible efficiencies. And while many may knock its so called weak tranny, (anybody who launches a car 100+ times is gonna weaken their tranny) this same tranny is why the car shines so well especially in midrange speeds and from a dig.
I have no doubt that your car would rock in the higher speeds. My formerly stock GT-R ran strong to about 130-135 and while it would still move, it didnt advance like my 997TT and definitely not like my M6 at these upper speeds. But my car is no longer stock and is probably the fastest of my three cars

Sounds like his intercooler pump may be going bad. I had the same issue on my old 600. I really couldn't tell there was a problem until the car went into limp mode. It did feel a little off for a while before it finally registered a high enough heat to trigger the check engine light and completely shut down any boost to the engine. The dealership checked a few times but we know how that goes and they did not change the pump until it triggered the check engine light.
Also when mine went south it was very noticeable the car will fall on it's face, if it's to the point of intermittent failure these runs above would never have unfolded like described, 1 hard run & the car would be roasting & unble to recover for such use...

In that case, throw your hat in the ring to break the record for World's fastest MB on dragtimes (Marko, Blackbenzz, Jrcart, etc..). Vadim will never stop the quest for ultimate power and speed for us. Now it's VRP vs. FEDOR DEZYN. game on.

The GTR from a slow roll will be able to out shift the 5sp auto. The 5sp is slow compared to the dual clutch trans.
From the higher end roll.. say 70+ its probably better for these transmission.
.. its the ability to put the power down effortlessly is the key to short runs.
Thanks for sharing.. be safe out there.
