Changing City Lights [PIAA 19172..anything else?]
Hello,
I searched the forums and saw that most people replace the yellow halogen city lights with PIAA 19172, but I was wondering if there were other bulbs that I could pick up at like Pep Boys or Kragen that would do the trick.
Thanks

I have the Pep Boys hyper white citi lights and they are clean white the problem is they dont make the same bulb anymore. Take a look at MJ50 s Mod fever he has some cool leds.

Pm e1000 he soldered some resistor on some super white leds for me.
Another option is, if you look at the 09 e63 their city light bulbs are blue in color so you can get those from the dealership.

I tried using Hoen xenon match bulbs which were supposed to white and match the HID......but they didn't match and on top of that one burnt out 5 days later.
I went with MJ50s advice and did the SMT tower leds from http://superlumination.com/194.htm
They are nice and at night "kinda" match the hids but not really. The LEDs are bit to "white/blue" , going with a 5000k bulb or even 6000k hid bulb would match these better.

Good post Eric, I have been going crazy tying to find bulbs that will match my 7000k hid's. I tried the 09 E63 and they look yellow just like what I had before. I wanted to do led but kept hearing about people running into problems. Does anyone know what will work best with my application?
Also the license plate bulbs look terrible. What can be done to make it look whiter. I know we cant do LED. What is the next best thing? TIA

i emailed Ziza and they said these led bulbs will work in mercedes too. the new vw have similar setups to ours where they can't use led bulbs and these work well. i am going to try them on my car.

I can't figure out what's going on with mine... I replaced them with the white-light wedge bulbs and now they don't light up anymore. If I turn the lighting knob all the way to the left (to the left or right P) one side lights up, but the inner headlights never light up automatically anymore. Not when low beams are on, not when its on Auto, not as DRLs, or anything. If I go into the Lighting menu and change the beam from Manual to Consistent, it turns the xenons on.
Any ideas?

LEDs for license
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ate-light.html
I finally had one go bad, lost 2 of the nine LEDs started to strobe, cause voltage fluctuations so I installed a 1 amp voltage regulator (Radio Shack), no more brown outs and spikes to kill my LEDS.
