Dissatisifed with EBC Redstuff pads
sorry for the repost here, but you guys seem to have the most experience with aftermarket pads.
So about 2 weeks ago, i installed new brake pads front and rear. The front got akebono euro ceramic pads, and the rears got EBC redstuff (akebono does not have a euro ceramic pad for the rear of an s500 4matic).
Since that time, I've put about 200 miles on the car, and the front wheels are absolutely clean, while the rears have a significant amount of dust. Not quite as bad as the stock pads, but not even close to as nice as the front.
The pads are clearly still bedding and the ebc pads have this break-in coating, so that may be the reason for the seemingly high level of dust, but if this keeps up, I will not be impressed by this pad.
So, for anyone that runs these things, does the dust level decrease after a few hundred miles?
Thanks.

Akebonos are much cleaner running pads than EBC's are. EBC's are "low dust" and Akebonos are almost "no dust".
If it's dust-control you're looking for, go ake's all the way around. I will warn you, the rears squeak. But only in reverse, and the lack of dust makes it worth it.

My experience with RedStuff on other platforms are that they grab really well and take abuse, but they eat the rotors real quick. I'd typically have warped rotors within 10-15k using RedStuff on the front. During that time, they worked real well but at a cost. Dust was as described above -- less than stock pads but still there.

a quarter mile at a time
I've tried EBC pads on 2 occasions on 2 different cars and both times I didn't like them. As said earlier they are very hard on rotors and otherwise give no other advantages over other choices.

Have had 'em for over a year, and it is amazing how little they dust; I'm sure you'll be impressed. I've read that they aren't suitable for track use (i.e. road course), but for a street-only pad they're pretty tough to beat.

If I had another choice, I most certainly would have used it, but redstuffs were basically the only ceramic-like pad for the rear fitment on my car.
rear rotors are like $50 each though, so I'm not too concerned about rotor life. I also drive pretty gently and only do about 3,500 miles a year.

I just put on the EBC Reds with new rotors on my car. I'm happy with them. They do a lot less dust then factory. Big thing that made me mad was the squeak. They did that pretty bad for the first 500 miles or so. They are quite now. No experience with the Ake. but when buying my EBC the shop recommended the EBC. The Ake. are cheaper too.

really really bad idea to run 2 different brands and kinds of pads on a car..
to have proper balance you should always match the front and rears. with the same pad.. or you can have some problems at high speed..
expecially if they bite differently..

I'm not at all concerned. Neither are terribly grippy, and I hardly ever drive at "high speed". Braking has been same as stock as far as im concerned.
