Burn out question

So my rear tires are on the way out. I figured let me do some power brakeing burn outs with ESP OFF.
My question is that since our cars don't have LSD when doing the burn out should only one wheel spin or both the wheel?

I am sure both of your tires will spin, considering that you don't have tread! Just make sure to video tape for us!

+1 for dyno mode, did this and laid down two equal 60 stripes (could have gone more)

My car always lays down two stripes and I do not have the Quaife as far as I know.

I got happy this morning when I laid down two strips thinking I may have a LSD, maybe the previous owner put one.
So basically if we put down two stripes that doesnot mean we have a LSD

Exactly. It just means you have enough power to spin both tires, even without LSD.

I understand that we have a Brake Lock Differential, in other words we have an electronically controlled differential. If one wheel starts to slip the brake is applied to that wheel to stop the slipping, we're talking miliseconds I'm sure.

Most of the time, you'll be able to spin both wheels, but sometimes if one wheel happens to be on a more slippery surface than the other wheel, then you will be spinning one wheel only while the other remains still. I've seen it on the track a few times during burnouts: one side of the water box has more water than the other and you're done

isnt it that you will spin both tires in a straight line with or without an lsd, but when you go int a corner only one will spin?

with the torque of this vehicle, you can easily get both wheels spinning on a turn, but it depends on the loading of the rear axle. if you can hit the accelerator with the rear wheels unloaded/light load right before or the early part of a turn, you can get both wheels to spin. if you are mid-turn with the rear wheel seeing much of the vehicle weight/load, it will be much harder to spin that one, as the inner rear wheel will want to spin.

Just tried it coming back from a late lunch in an outdoor parking garage. ESP off, in D. Trust me, they both spin. Told an innocent bystander it was a science project.

That's how I do it, whenever I want to clean off my tires I just turn the ESP off and let'r rip! come to think of it I can light them up with the ESP on as well

So is the best way to get a continuous amount of smoke, but without actually getting traction and moving, to put it in Dyno mode and just stomp on it from a stop? Or is powerbraking at all a good idea?

even without LSD both will spin.... make sure to videotape it and leave lots of space for the tires to keep spinning down the road after you let off the throttle. haha

When I tried it I started out with a power brake and then modulated the throttle keeping it in 1st gear at about 5K, I let off the brake as soon as I got them to start to spin. Seriously there is a huge amount of smoke and this huge grin that fills up the entire windshield that can be seen for miles!

Own

I suspect you own the property you were burning out your tires on.

I was wondering the same thing. So, what exactly does an LSD do for our cars if both rear tires light up without one?
