Illuminated sills
My '09 E63 came with illuminated sills (the factory option.) I didn't order it, the car was on the floor that way.
Anyway, the script is 'Mercedes Benz' and not 'AMG.' It's a little too bling for me (blue light, etc..) and I thought of going with the AMG illuminated and maybe just switch out the blue bulb for white. But maybe the plastic lettering is blue and not the bulb? Anybody know?
But I went to the parts guy (in another dealership) and it's almost $1200 for the AMG illuminated sills. I have to buy the whole kit and not just the sills. It's only a $700 factory option.
So now I'm thinking just the stock non-illuminated AMG sills are fine by me. I'll pull the factory illuminated ones in there now and sell them.
But now I'm also wondering did the dealer switch them? Is the illuminated option on AMGs the 'Mercedes Benz' script? Should it have been 'AMG' to begin with??
Anybody have the factory option on their E63? Is it 'AMG' or 'Mercedes Benz'...?
Yeah, so now I'm reading thru some forums and it looks like the "illuminated sills" option is dealer installed(?) Looks like the dealer maybe installed 'MB' ones instead of 'AMG' ones.

Not sure about most of your questions, however if you wanted AMG illuminated ones, you could order from formymercedes.com for (I believe) $200.....

if you do go this route, it will be much simpler to do the wiring. and i don't think you can change the color of lumination as the actual lettering is electro-luminenscent.
