The point is, dealers don't just "slap on the badge". It costs money, and they do it at customer request. A poser is a poser, and having only the badge without making an even bigger *** of themselves by doing "6.3 AMG" or "V8 Kompressor" doesn't make them less of a poser. Kind of like lying, you did or you didn't, no in between.
My CLS had an AMG and 55 badge on it when I bought it from a dealership, I had them to remove them before having the car shipped.
To the rest of what you said, I and several other already stated what posing is, pretty clear. Did you read what I said? No engine, no badge. I said that on my post earlier....
My point was that this "debate" on posing has been beat to death. We know what posing is, that has already been made crystal clear. If people want to pose, let them. They can do want they want, why should anyone care? If you want to be an "***" by posing as you so eloquently put it, that is their business.

Well smart guy, first thing is THIS IS YELLING IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT. Second thing is, you missed the point, and that is the dealer probably put that on at your request, and if he didn't you still paid for it. The car did not come from the factory with the badge period. Sport package cars come with AMG wheels and they are an option on plain MB's, but apparently everyone but you knows that it doesn't make it an AMG. You probably have one of those retarded metal dealer emblems riveted to the deck lid as well. You could always log into the AMG private and lounge and talk to Affalterbach directly and confirm what I already know. Stay in NY Mr. "beating asses", you'll live longer.

And Ben, you said it yourself, USED cars. No regular MB has ever come with an AMG badge. Ever. You don't have to believe me, but I made it a point to have the guys from Affalterbach answer that question.

You said: "dealers don't just "slap on the badge". You are incorrect about that statement. Several dealers (Non-MB and MB) dealers have done that. No one said anything about coming from the factory like that, no they do not.
For the record, I don't pose and I am not fighting for posers. From the first post I made that clear, and stated why should people care about posers? IMO, it's silly, but whatever.

As far as I'm concerned, a few Mercedes have been pushed out direct from the factory with the AMG badge on it.
As one has stated in a few posts above.. I too have a neighbour a few houses down that owns a CLK430 AMG.

And the dealership is the one to put the badge on prior to purchase. The owner of the car may not have wanted it or really knew what it was. The owner may just have assumed that it came with the "sport package" and left it alone.
That's why I typically don't bother saying anything to them unless they try to pass it off as an AMG to impress someone.
On the forums, that's a different story. People are here because they are enthusiasts that know or want to know the car they have. If they then choose to argue the point of an AMG, well then they are getting called out.
If you're on the forums and you have a car AMG badged without the full AMG treatment (engine, etc.) then you should either remove it or suffer the forum calling you out. Besides, this thread is just a humorous thread where people take pictures of fake AMG's.

I'm not sure I agree with "calling people out" in real life or berating people who have a badge on their car without knowing their reasoning or ignorance of the matter but, really, this thread is completely different than that.

I guess I'm just needing some type of "proof" that an CLK 430 would come from an MB factory with the AMG badge. Of all the cars that MB cranks out why in the hell would they choose a CLK to put it on? Just makes ZERO sense to me. I called my brother who works for MB and he's gonna research it for me tomorrow and let me know. Not that I care one way or the other, just like the debate!

dealers often put on AMG wheels (replicas even) and the AMG badge to boost the price of the otherwise standard E350s and such. I wouldn't think that the average buyer even knows what the AMG badge means. I personally don't think dealers should be allowed to do that. Could you imagine dodge dealers putting srt badges on v6 cars?

im pretty sure that the Bill of sale stated "AMG "package on it for the clk 430's back in 2001 . been a long time so mind is a lil fuzzy but i also had a 2001 e430 sport and that never had the AMG badging from the dealer only the clk .

I hear ya man, I really enjoyed my clk as well. The main debate seems to be that some folks think the 430 came from the "factory" with the AMG badge. I just have a hard time believing this. AMG package does not include the badge.

I had a hard time believing it to at first but the CLK430 is the only non AMG car that came with an AMG badge.
