Well, last week, when I was at the car wash an African couple pulls up behind me.
I thought it was a W210 E55, turns out it was a E420, with the AMG badge. They ask me all kinds of questions, about my car, and it is a real AMG. I was going to take photos of their car. But I didn't want to hurt their feelings. As they were ignorant to the facts, of being a "POSER".

I really don't get this poser sh*t. The poser knows it isn't an AMG and 90% or more of the people that even know what an AMG is know it isn't an AMG. So who are they trying to impress?

Haven't seen posers in forever and now I've seen 2 within a few weeks. Go figure.... Whoever put this badge on cared enough to be a poser, but didn't care enough to try and get it close to lined up where it should be.

PS. There is a USF car meet I think this Friday either @ USF parking garage across from the library OR at Peabody's parking lot in New Tampa. I'm going try and be there once I figure out which place they are having it...

+1. Out of the 4 years I owned my E55, only 4-5 people actually complemented the fact it was real deal. To the rest of the world, is just a MB. WTH is AMG? It happens everywhere on every brand. 3 and 5 series BMW's with M Badges, Audi's with S Badges, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeeps with SRT badges, on and on...

It's the people that are true posers that bother me... The ones that put the V8 Kompressor, or 6.3 badges, etc. and and do the AMG tailpipes and paint AMG on their calipers, etc. that really bother me... But I don't jump to any conclusions when see an AMG badge with no other modifications...

Just wanted to get some opinions. I recently purchased a 2003 e500 from a private party and the previous owner had added "Lorinser" on the back opposite of the number badge along with a set of Lorinser center wheel caps and the hood badge. Now obviously its not a Lorinser, but the cursive logo just looks so darn cool.
Now im pretty sure that Lorinser is only cosmetic (not 100%) so i don't think i fall into the catagory of impersonating a car that i don't own. I looked online and really began to fancy the Lorinser bodykits and wheels and am saving for it. After stumbling on this thread i'm kind of having second thoughts on keeping the badges up. The last thing i want is my car to end up on one these forums as a poser. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

IMO,lose the "Lorinser" badging. Go back to stock. I am not a big fan of theirs, and if I had any of their parts would not likely do the advertising for them. Believe you will be much happier. They do sell some performance stuff.

I agree... Most people have no clue what the AMG even stands for... And a lot of people buy their non-AMG vehicles with AMG badging on it already and are oblivious that it shouldn't be there... I saw a 80 year lady driving an S430 AMG the other day... I hardly think she is trying to be a poser... I was more impressed with here sense of humor (she has a bumper sticker that said "Caution: Over The Hill Driver" or something like that on it) than I was at pointing her out...

I think most people know the M's are diff than reg bmws though - i think M guys have done real good at telling (bragging) everyone how Ms are the coolest and sooooo different and super battleship race cars from a special planet that every 20yr blonde knows that "he has a M car"
