Proof of where you have gotten that information is needed please. From what other members have quoted and posted from MB themselves is that only full AMG cars have the badge on the rear. The Wheels, appearance packages do not count and dealers are not supposed to install the badge on those cars. Hence the saying, if it doesn't have the engine, then its not a AMG!!!. Dealers have been known to slap them on to help sell their cars and MBUSA is supposed to come down hard on the dealers if caught. Thats what has been posted before so your information is new and different if you can shed some light on where you found that out at please.

Might not be a Benz, nor an AMG.
But one thing is for sure, it's definitely not a Jeep Wrangler.

mixed feelings about this one. it is a 1992 SL500 with an impressive conversion to R230 SL65 (hard to believe). Pure posing ... but nice job none-the-less

This almost took the cake for me. White Driver was about late 20's with his hat level but backwards and had his seat laaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiddddddddd back. But he was propped up on the steering wheel with his wrist doing the driving. Gave me the thumbs up when I went by him, but as I went by I realized I saw something glinting on the rear side of the truck that looked awfully suspicious. So I let him pass so I could get a better look and sure enough it was a AMG badge. CLK 430 AMG model. Really wanted to show my disappointment of his actions, since he thought he was so cool, but understated is better than being a show off. So quietly, well as quiet as a AMG can be

I remember reading a post by a guy who worked for MBUSA who claimed the AMG badges were installed at the Port of Jacksonville and were indeed sold off dealer's lots with the AMG badge. I believe this was done at the dealers request on cars that were pre-ordered. This was before the CLK55 (m112) came out in 2001 and AMGS offerings were limited to the E55 and the C36/C43 (Which was made before MB even acquired AMG). In the CLK430s defense the car did come with the wheels and the body kit offically marketed as the sport package. HOwever if you were to enter the VIN in AMGPL, you will not gain access bc officially Mercedes Benz never sold a CLK430.
