Anyone think their intercooler might look like this?

Just a thought, I know our PCV system does get some oil going through the supercharger...How will an oil coated intercooler affect heat transfer? I'd imagine it'd be negative...just not sure if it's worth diving in to try and figure out...

I have on sitting in my toolbox waiting for installation time, but what about cleaning the oil thats already on it?

Haha.. thats a Ford Lightning.. i have a 2001 as well and we have huge issue's with the PCV kicking up oil.. I actually started using breathers/baffles on my valve covers instead of running a catch can.. worked great..

GT40MkI: At least on the lightnings, we use carb cleaner and/or brake cleaner to get the oil residue off the intercooler fins.. takes a few cans to get it all off..

It acts as a bypass for the returning gases / oil and "catches" the oil. As is, ours just feeds back into the backside of the intake. The mod is very easy, just never seen enough data to understand what good it does.

Shardul just did a mint write up on it not long ago.

I am in the process of doing the same, along with a bunch of stuff. It is also a cheap mod.

You should install a vacuum pump and run the lines from the valve covers to that. Have all that dump into a catch can.
