I've never met Chiromikey.... but since the context surrounds the weight, is he really light? I mean like a race horse jockey light who could shave like 150 lbs off of bassn?

A little OT... and just try to understand all the physics on track.

BTW, I think I'm referring to the other thread "Custom LET Tune"... but Alan, I think you mentioned that regardless experience, trap speed should be pretty close (you said within +/- 1mph).

I think that would be true if you lose traction (due to inexperienced driver) at launch since you wouldn't lose any distance to 1/4-mile mark.

But how about if you don't lose traction completely - meaning the car move forward while burning the tires - or lose traction in the middle of track when the car has moved forward? Wouldn't it make the car closer to 1/4-mile mark but no gains in speed, hence, affecting the trap speed?

IIRC, my first run w/ current E55, I had to let go the gas pedal 2-3 times due to traction (forgot to turn the ESP back on ). Granted, S/C shutting off close to finish line may have impacted trap speed also... but I only got 109-110 trap speed. My best run that day only trapped around 118-ish. And I believe some people said stage 1 w/ 118 trap speed = something is wrong (just like what people think about Azipod's car)

So mind enlightening me a bit? Track experts? Chiromikey, blackbenz?

it's a mutt...i guess at this point most of the credit has to go to chris at floored fabrication for his intellect and all the custom builds he's done for me.

When you have to let out the throttle in a 1/4 mile pass you are pretty much guaranteed a lower mph since you are covering distance without accelerating. Hence the reason why I asked if Azipod ever let out during the run. Usually when you spin and stay in the throttle your mph goes up.

You would be surprised how some people run their cars on the street. See exhibit A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns3mkQAnRxc The car I run at ~3:00 is a 540whp cobra
My car is actually lighter on the street now than it was when I ran a 10.7 I usually drive to the track on street tires and swap rear wheels, loosen rear suspension and have at it.

Thanks... at least I still remember physics correctly

Only one thing that I still don't get when you said "Usually when you spin and stay in the throttle your mph goes up".

I think regardless whether you stay in the throttle or let it go, the car's speed would only gradually decrease (if you keep losing traction) or gradually increase (if you gain traction). In other words, the car will be slower for that distance as compared to as if you didn't lose traction at all.

In short, if you lose traction, except at launch, you'll lose some trap speed. Do I understand this correctly?

As for your 2nd paragraph.... LOL. I wish I had both time and guts to go visit Mexico. I guess fatherhood feeling has been kicking in recently I heard OP plans to go to Mexico for a run w/ an M6

I think I ate too many hot dogs. I have a video showing the show car losing the first race by a few seconds, heheheeeeeeee. But yeah he eventually took control of the event but I think Lisa was the one actually defeating the Orca.

Alan just proved to all of us incredible runs can be had in the summer!!!

Hey Guys,

After reading a few of the post regarding trap speeds I decided to post a few of my time slips. Even though my 60' varied I didn't see a large variance in my speeds. Most say that the better the 60' the slower the trap speed, I didn't see that.

What is amazing is indeed the mph gained on the back half. I had IDENTICAL 60-foots and then a 7.2@99.6mph 1/8 then trapped at 126.6mph so your car is insane after 100mph. What the hell is going on, whatever it is, its working! Congrats.

With that being said, are you getting any spin on the launch? You need to come out the hole harder to get in the tens. Your car is really picking up mph up top. 29mph on the back half! You need to work on your launch to improve the front 1/8th ET. On my best pass to date I ran a 6.919 1/8th at 100.94mph with a 1.55 60' and only trapped 127.1 You picked up alot more speed on the top end

The only real stat that is glaring from the slips is as follows:

Your car is consistant and it is making a ton of power throughout the rpm range.

Unlike the majority of 55's your car actually gets stronger in the back 1/8th.

You need to work on your R/T's now, the car is absolutely running pure.

Your car is as fast as 55's I have seen on spray.

It is as fast as Ben Traynor's heavily modded SL 65 and his promotive P car.

This was also in June and pretty hot , but you can see your car is King so far at SAC

I think a lot of the top-end power gained in the last half of the 1/4 mile may be coming from a combination of Renntech's new 82 mm TB and CF air box, which seem to be allowing the car to breath very freely (and very aggressively) while utilizing a lot more air.... and part of course has to be attributed to the "magical" custom tune provided by Powerchip.

+1...car seems to love it. Not to mention heat soak is not a factor at this point due to the trunk reservoir. Your car is gaining some incredible power up top. keep it coming

I dont post my times on dragtimes. I hate it when I go somewhere and people already know what I run.

Interesting point regarding the 82mm TB. It DEFINITELY flows more air because when I swapped to it I maxed out the injectors. Now I'm all antsy about getting back to the track! Need a tune though

I'm sorry Vadim, not to be rude but Alan's car is a mutt... He has ASP, RENNtech, VRP, EVOsport and Powerchip products. the only VRP or FD product on his car is the HEM and midpipe.

Nice! That's still one thing I've been contemplating for a while now...LT's. I guess contemplating isn't the right word since I've alredy purchased them . The appropriate word would be "installing". Have any of you guys modded your car to the point where you're content? I feel like I might be there but not quite sure yet. Some feel that I should stay with my exhaust setup and try to get into the 10's without LT's or cams.... so confused LOL!

More than likely I'm going to install just because I've already committed to selling my setup. I'm sure my current tune won't change much and I should get more power, I hope. Otherwise it will be hard to let it go....

Let's get some opinions here. BTW...my car drives like stock with a slight rumble. Here's my current exhaust setup.

VRP Headers, Vadim's mid-section, 200 cell race cats, and Vadim's X-pipe. This unit bolts up to my resonator and everything is stock from there back. My new setup is from Chris over at Floored Fab which is the same as Chiromikey's setup...exactly.

Let the opinions roll!!!!!!!!!!!
