New to MB/AMG and E55!
Hello all,
After years of owning some other brands, most recently an '03 BMW 540iA, I came across my new favorite thing in the world. I searched high and low for 6 months until I found a very nice '05 E55 AMG. It was owned by an older gentleman who had been a friend of a client. Sadly, he passed which left the car to his widow who had no use for it. My client put us together and she made me a generous offer I couldn't refuse.
Anyway, I'm excited to learn more. It feels really strong. Apparently it has some Renntech parts already installed. I'm not sure what, but I'm aware of the company from friends who are into MB and come to find out they aren't far away - right here in Florida, in fact.
So it's nice to be here and hope I can pitch in sometime.

Thanks! I do have a question - is 'E55' the right term? I also see 'E55K'. And is the E550 a completely different car? Non-AMG?
Trying to play catch-up!

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
E550 is different, non-AMG
E55 is right term, the K in E55K stands for Kompressor, as in Supercharged..... people just say E55
in other words, the M113 engine (in 03-06 E55's)

Welcome and congrats on what sounds to be a great deal for you. To expand on the E55K, it also helps differentiate between the E55 W210 (pre-2003 non Supercharged) and E55 W211 (2003-2006 supercharged). Also, you might see some say E55K1, K2, K3, or E55K4 which means they have an E55 W211 Kompressor with an aftermarket Kleemann stage 1,2,3, or 4 upgrade kit.

Thanks for clearing that up jpohl and cahiil!
I've been meaning to contact Renntech and get more details on the car. Maybe they can tell me about something that isn't obvious from looking at it. These cars are pretty stout from the factory so it's hard to tell how much more power it's making - I assume it's more than stock, though. I've owned cars that trap in the 115-119 range at the track and this seems to have more kick. Never owned a supercharged V8, though. Very different feel...

TopEndS62 - wow your car list looks a lot like mine, including the Acuras! I don't have pics yet, sorry. Too busy driving it But seriously it looks just like a stock E55. I'm beginning to think any changes have been limited to maybe a tune.

OK so I got the skinny on the ride. I'm told the gentleman had the car at Renntech twice - once for an ECU tune and again for a stage 2 upgrade "cause his grandson talked him into it". Thanks, kid! It has ECUTCU tuning, a different pulley, filter system, an upgraded pump, and short tube headers. The rep on the phone told me this is pretty mild compared to what they can do with the E55 now. I'm not interested in changing anything on it right at the moment but they were telling me about a handheld tuner that can swap between mild and wild if I wanted to see what the other side felt like. THAT got me a little more interested. But I wanted to do some research online first. I'm not an impulsive person!

pics pics pics! It's a stock-appearing E55! haha but I think I really like it that way. Nobody expects it...
anyway I'll try to get some pics I guess. In the process of closing on a house. Amazing the deals you can get in central Florida right now! I might buy two!
