Is your door knob going nuts?????
I recently had this problem when ever you lock & unlock your doors. The pogo stick effect. I did a lot of searching & reading about what guys here were doing to fix the problem. I read countless threads of newbs who forked over $600 for a new door lock actuator/ mechanism Some guys opting to do the R&r themselves, some guys paying the stealership the labor to do it.
I started thinking, their is no f'ing way that many door lock actuators could be going bad. So a month or so ago I had my e55 amg in for some recall work. The only thing I would let the stealership do to my car. While it was there I asked them to diagnose the pogo stick pyscho door lock. Of course the dip**** service tool called me & said I needed a new door lock thingy & it was $600 lol. So I started searching around & came across this dtb below. So today I take the door apart & sure enough the rubber boot was compressed like pictured. I greased it up & slid it out & this fixed my problem. Didn't even have to remove it from the door. Of coarse replacing the entire unit will also fix the problem like many people here already did. I feel sorry for everyone who wasted their time & effort replacing the entire unit when all they needed to do was grease the rod/ boot.
If you have a star service manual disc it's on there.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Just cause there is a DRB does not make it war any of the car is out of factory warranty. This happened to one of my door locks too, check the boot but it was ok and it still needed a new door latch.

All the info you need is in Graph post at the top, I was able to make this repair quick and easy after reading.
Follow this disassembly manual you can't go wrong http://bayhas.com/mercedes/w211/cont...isassembly.htm

I don't know what a "graph post" is but Safari doesn't display it. However, I found a video on youtube for taking off the door panel. that was actually quite easy. I sprayed the shaft and boot with silicone spray and it's working great again. About a 20 min job. Thanks guys!
