Strange Noise from Engine
Recently I experienced some strange engine noise. When sitting in the car, leave the engine running, I feel the engine has little vibration and some noise. Does anyone have problem like that ?
Last night I recorded this sound file. The one circle in red is where I hear the noise coming from.

Hi mo, I don't know how to describe the noise. Some strong
ticking noise and I also feel some vibration in the car when it is idle.
Does yours have the same ticking noise like mine. When u have a
chance tonight can you listen to it.

I noticed the same thing. Mine only ticks when Im low on gas. But it sounds like a strong ticking sound. Do you still have this problem?

Mine does that but not that loud, it sounds like someone typing on a type-writer.
I think you may be low on oil or have the lifter problem. Take it to the dealer, it shouldn't be that loud.

Yeah, I still get ticking on warm up, but nowhere near that loud. My engine vibrates, but not outside spec anymore. Just a little wiggle when it's cold. I'd take that in just to see what they say.

Sounds like the usual 6.2 tappets before it gets warm and fully oiled up. With recordings it's almost impossible to say if it's "too loud" or normal. It needs to be listened to in person and not isolated in a recording where volume levels can make it sound abnormally loud.
Noisy tappets, but not a malfunctioning sound, imho. I'm guessing the dealer will say the same thing.
Slight vibration at idle does occur with these motors, too. Bring the rpms up a little and you'll notice it goes away.
p.s., my tech guy says these motors make all kinds of odd ball noises, but nothing's wrong with them. A lot of pumps and vacuums, etc.. I feel the motors are pretty robust and not really a source of concern. It's the rest of the stuff like electrical, computer, etc., that goes wacky.

that ticking noise sound normal. my car does samething all the time. i think it is from timing chain. same as my LEXUS GS. all engine has timing chain will have the same noise. just ingore it.
